Abstract: The present invention relates to the present invention relates to a method of operating a power supply system. The power supply system may include a three-phase generator electrically connected to a battery through a bridge circuit comprising upper side semiconductor switches (M7, M8, M9) and lower side semiconductor switches (M4, M5, M6), and a control unit electrically connected to the bridge circuit. The method includes determining (502) whether an output voltage from the three-phase generator is greater than a threshold voltage. Further, the method includes upon satisfying (504) one or more conditions of non-availability of power from the battery to the control unit, activating shunt control by selectively switching ON, the lower side semiconductor switches (M4, M5, M6) sequentially, after a predetermined time to maintain a minimum voltage required for driving a control unit based on said determination
