A Method Of Detecting An Erroneous Swapping Between Two Temperature Sensors.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes method steps (200) of detecting an erroneous swapping between a Diesel oxidation catalyst 5 inlet temperature sensor and a Diesel Particulate Filter inlet temperature sensor of an exhaust gas treatment system. An Electronic Control Unit (ECU (103)) is adapted to perform the above method steps. The ECU (103) receives (202) a first value of temperature from the DOC inlet temperature sensor (101) 10 and a second value of temperature from the DPF inlet temperature sensor (102); calculate (203) a difference between said second value of temperature and said first value of temperature upon presence of a regeneration request from the exhaust gas treatment system; detect (204) an erroneous swapping between the DOC inlet temperature sensor (101) 15 and the DPF inlet temperature sensor (102) based on the calculated value.

Specification

Claims:1. A method of detecting an erroneous swapping between a Diesel
oxidation catalyst (104) inlet temperature sensor (101) and a Diesel
Particulate Filter (105) inlet temperature sensor (102) of an exhaust
gas treatment system in a vehicle, the vehicle 5 comprising an
Electronic Control Unit in communication with the DOC inlet
temperature sensor (101) and the DPF inlet temperature sensor (102),
the method comprising:
retrieving data of the distance travelled by the vehicle from the
10 ECU (103);
receiving a first value of temperature from the DOC inlet
temperature sensor (101) and a second value of temperature
from the DPF inlet temperature sensor (102);
calculate a difference between said second value of temperature
15 and said first value of temperature upon presence of a
regeneration request from the exhaust gas treatment system;
detecting an erroneous swapping between the DOC inlet
temperature sensor (101) and the DPF inlet temperature sensor
(102) based on the calculated value.
2. The method of detecting an erroneous swapping between a Diesel
oxidation catalyst inlet temperature sensor and a Diesel Particulate
Filter inlet temperature sensor of an exhaust gas treatment system in
a vehicle as claimed in claim 1, wherein upon detection an audio or
25 visual alarm is given to a user of the vehicle.
3. An Electronic Control Unit (ECU (103)) adapted to detect an
erroneous swapping between a Diesel oxidation catalyst inlet
temperature sensor (101) and a Diesel Particulate Filter inlet
temperature sensor (102) of an exhaust gas treatment 5 system in a
vehicle, the Electronic Control Unit in communication with the DOC
inlet temperature sensor (101) and the DPF inlet temperature sensor
(102), the ECU (103) configured to:
retrieve data of the distance travelled by the vehicle;
10 receive a first value of temperature from the DOC inlet
temperature sensor (101) and a second value of temperature
from the DPF inlet temperature sensor (102);
calculate a difference between said second value of temperature
and said first value of temperature upon presence of a
15 regeneration request from the exhaust gas treatment system;
detect an erroneous swapping between the DOC inlet
temperature sensor (101) and the DPF inlet temperature sensor
(102) based on the calculated value.
4. The ECU (103) adapted to detect an erroneous swapping between a
Diesel oxidation catalyst inlet temperature sensor and a Diesel
Particulate Filter inlet temperature sensor of an exhaust gas treatment
system in a vehicle as claimed in claim 3, wherein upon detection an
audio or visual alarm is given to a user of the vehicle. , Description:The present disclosure proposes method steps (200) of detecting an
erroneous swapping between a Diesel oxidation catalyst 5 inlet temperature
sensor and a Diesel Particulate Filter inlet temperature sensor of an
