Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method to solubilize phenolic compounds and maintain it in a stable solubilized form for an extended period of time. The disclosure provides for the use of a mixture of caffeine and ethanol to solubilize phenolic compounds. Also provided are methods and formulations comprising phenolic compounds viz quercetin, genistein, and menadione in solution for extended periods of time for promoting hair growth.
Claims:1. A method for solubilization of phenolic compounds in a solution and maintain it in a stable solubilized form for an extended period of time, said method comprising the steps:
(a) obtaining at least one phenolic compound; and
(b) contacting said phenolic compound with a mixture comprising:
(i) caffeine; and
(ii) ethanol,
to obtain a solution, wherein in said solution said at least one phenolic compound is soluble for an extended period of time ranging from 7-1100 days at ambient temperature.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said at least one phenolic compound is selected from the group consisting of quercetin, genistein, menadione, and combination thereof.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein ethanol weight concentration in said mixture is in the range of 30-99%.
4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein caffeine weight concentration in said mixture is in the range of 0.5-2%.
5. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein quercetin weight concentration in said solution is in the range of 0.5-5%, genistein weight concentration in said solution is in the range of 0.1-5%, and menadione weight concentration in said solution is in the range of 0.5-5%.
6. A formulation for promoting hair growth, said formulation comprising:
a. quercetin at a weight concentration in the range of 0.5-5%;
b. genistein at a weight concentration in the range of 0.1-5%;
c. menadione at a weight concentration in the range of 0.5-5%;
d. ethanol at a weight concentration in the range of 30-99%; and
e. caffeine at a weight concentration in the range of 0.5-2%.
7. The formulation as claimed in claim 6, further comprising D-panthenol at a weight concentration in the range of 0.01-1.0%, magnesium aspartate & zinc gluconate & copper gluconate at a weight concentration in the range of 0.01 to 1.0%, allantoin at a weight concentration in the range of 0.01-0.5%, PEG-12 dimethicone at a weight concentration in the range of 1.0-10.%, climbazole at a weight concentration in the range of 0.05-2.0%, diethyl phthalate at a weight concentration in the range of 0.4-1.2% and water to a make a final concentration of 100%.
8. The formulation as claimed in any of the claims 6 and 7, wherein said formulation comprises: (a) quercetin at a weight concentration of 1.2%; (b) genistein at a weight concentration of 0.3%; (c) menadione at a weight concentration of 1.5%; (d) ethanol at a weight concentration of 60%; (e) caffeine at a weight concentration of 2%; (f) D-panthenol at a weight concentration of 0.1%; (g) magnesium aspartate & zinc gluconate & copper gluconate at a weight concentration 0.1%; (h) allantoin at a weight concentration of 0.05%; (i) PEG-12 dimethicone at a weight concentration of 6%; (j) climbazole at a weight concentration of 0.5%; (k) diethyl phthalate at a weight concentration of 1%; (l) and water to a make a final concentration of 100.
9. A method of preparing a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 6-8.
10. A method for promoting hair growth, said method comprising:
a. obtaining a formulation as claimed in any of the claims 6-8; and
b. contacting said formulation with a hair follicle,
wherein said method promotes hair growth.
