A Multi Layered Hard Armor Panel (Hap) For Body Armor
Abstract: Disclosed herein a hard armor panel (HAP) (100) for body armor. The panel (100) comprising a front strike surface (101) and a rigid backing face (102), wherein the front strike surface (101) is formed of a plurality of layers of ceramic spherical balls (103), semi-spherical balls (104) arranged in a body-centred cubic arrangement and ceramic tiles (105) arranged in an edge to edge orientation, wherein the plurality of ceramic spherical balls (103), semi-spherical balls (104) and ceramic tiles (105) are aligned in a plurality of rows (106), wherein the plurality of rows (106) are stacked, wherein a gap between two ceramic spherical balls 103() is covered by the ceramic ball of bottom layer and wherein vertical edges of the ceramic angled tiles (105) are obliquely cut matching the curvature of contour pressed backing face (102). The multi-layered HAP (100) is made of high tensile strength materials having low density and thus, the HAP (100) is low in weight and does not hinder the efficacy and movement of the end user.
