A Multi Tier Photobioculture Device

Abstract: ABSTRACT A MULTI-TIER PHOTOBIOCULTURE DEVICE The invention is related to a photobioculture device for cultivation of microorganisms, like microalgae, plant cell, etc. It relates to a multi-tier device, preferably for outdoor cultivation of photosynthetic microorganisms such as algae in immobilized condition. It is further related to the development of a multi-tier photobioculture device for growth of microorganisms for conversion of nutrient and/or harmful raw material into suitable, less harmful, value-added form of bioproducts. The present invention is in particular related to a photobioculture device (1), comprising: a) a plurality of vertical support frames (2); b) a plurality of culture plates (3) attached to said plurality of vertical support frame (2), the plurality of culture plates (3) being vertically spaced; c) a medium tank (4) configured to hold culture media and provide the culture media to the plurality of culture plates; and d) a collection tank (5) adapted to receive the culture media from the medium tank (4) through said plurality of culture plates (3).
