FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a rope compensated boom. In particular, this invention relates to a rope compensated boom for use in a crane.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Booms for use in a crane are as such known in the art. Such booms normally have at least extendable section. Rope from the winch passes through the jib head to the hook block for load lifting operations. Hook block as such moves up or down irrespective of winch operation if extension jack is moved in or out. At times, if operator is not careful, the hook block can strike and damage the jib head while extending out the boom even when the winch is not operating. Besides damage of the jib head, such a butting phenomenon can increase the tension in the winch rope and can even break it. To obviate such a disadvantage, it is also known to have a limit switch installed on jib head to provide audio-visual alarm to the operator to avoid butting of hook block with the jib head. Disadvantage of such a boom, non-rope compensated type, operational safety remains restricted.

OB JECT OF INVENTION
An object of this invention is to propose a novel construction of a rope compensated boom for use in a crane.
Another object of this invention is to propose a rope compensated boom for use in a crane which has at least one retractable boom.
Yet another object of this invention is to propose a boom for use in a crane which has at least one retractable boom, which is efficient and has built in safety feature of protecting winching wire rope.
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention there is provided a rope compensated boom for a crane comprising of a main boom provided with at least one extendable and retractable boom therein wherein the boom is disposed with a horizontal pulley and winch rope passing over it so as to allow rope compensation during boom telescoping.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows: rope compensated boom of the present invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Reference may be made to fig. 1. The rope compensated boom for a crane comprising of a main boom (1) provided with at least one extendable and retractable boom (2) therein. The extendable boom is disposed with a horizontal pulley (3) and winch rope (4) passing over it so as to allow rope compensation during boom telescoping.
In accordance with this invention, a winch rope (4) is disposed in a manner that it passes over a rotating pulley (3) disposed in a horizontal plane and mounted on the extendable boom.
-5-
One rotating end of the rope (5) is held to the main boom, the opposite end (6) being held to the winch. This ensures gap 'G' between jib head (7) and the hook block (8) to remain constant irrespective of boom telescoping in or out while winch is not moving.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-
-6-WE CLAIM:
1. A rope compensated boom for a crane comprising of a main boom provided with at least one extendable and retractable boom therein wherein the boom is disposed with a horizontal pulley and winch rope passing over it so as to allow rope compensation during boom telescoping.
2. A rope compensated boom as claimed in claim 1 wherein one rotating end of the rope is held to the main boom and opposite end being held to the winch.
3. A rope compensated boom for a crane substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a rope compensated boom for a crane comprising of a main boom provided with at least one extendable and retractable boom therein wherein the boom is disposed with a horizontal pulley and winch rope passing over it so as to allow rope compensation during boom telescoping.
