A Selective Catalytic Reduction (Scr) System For A Vehicle.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for a vehicle. The SCR system (100) comprises a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank having a reservoir (102) leading to an inlet (103), a directional control valve (104), a container (106), a sensor (107), an Electronic control unit (ECU (105)) and at least an indicator (108). The directional control valve (104) is integrated with the inlet (103) and has a first port and at least a second port. The first port is in fluid communication with the reservoir (102) and the second port is in fluid communication with a container (106). The directional control valve (104) is connected to the ECU (105). The sensor (107) is placed inside the inlet (103). The sensor (107) is in communication with an electronic control unit (ECU (105)) of the vehicle.

Specification

Claims:1. A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for a vehicle comprising at least a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank having an reservoir (102) leading to an inlet (103), characterized in that system:
A directional control valve (104) integrated with the inlet (103), said directional control valve (104) having a first port and at least a second port, the first port in fluid communication with the reservoir (102), the second port in fluid communication with a container (106), the directional control valve (104) connected to an electronic control unit (ECU (105));
the sensor (107) placed inside the inlet (103), said sensor (107) in communication with an electronic control unit (ECU (105)) of the vehicle;
An indicator (108) connected to the ECU (105).
2. The SCR system (100) as claimed in claim 1, where the indicator (108) gives an audio or visual indication if an incorrect liquid is detected by ECU (105).
3. A method for preventing filing of an incorrect liquid in the Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system of a vehicle, the SCR system (100) comprising the DEF tank (101) , a directional control valve (104) integrated with an inlet (103) of the DEF tank (101), and at least a sensor (107) placed inside the inlet (103), the method performed by an electronic control unit (ECU (105)), the method steps comprising:
receiving (201) a data from the sensor (107);
operating (202) the directional control valve (104) based on the received data.
4. The method for preventing filing of an incorrect liquid in the Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank as claimed in claim 1, where the sensor (107) data comprises information regarding a characteristic of the liquid entering the DEF tank (101). , Description:The present disclosure proposes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for a vehicle.
