Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION:
The present invention relates to a self responsive Radio Frequency Identification
tags (RFID). In particular, present invention relates to RFID tags with integrated
LED and alarm features.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
When the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) systems are used for locating
the materials in closed/semi-closed stores, the tags will be assigned to various
materials with the relevant data written to it in case of active RFID tags with in-
built memory. When the interrogator/a reader reads the tags, it captures the
data written into the tags and displays on the screen of portable reader for the
user's information and use.
But when a search operation is performed in a yard or store from a pool of RFID
tagged material, it is always difficult to locate the correct item/RFID tag being
searched for. There should be a system to identify the right item/Tag in right
time and in short span of time.
In general the conventional RFID tags contains an in-built antennae, an
electronic circuit and a small memory space to facilitate writing the data of
concerned material into it (Passive tags). In some cases in addition to the above,
the tags also contain a replaceable battery and a memory chip to facilitate
storing large amount of data (Active tags).

When these tags are made to interact with portable RFID readers, the reader
captures the stored material data from the tags and displays it on the reader's
screen. When it comes to search and locate operation, in a large area, where lot
of RFID tags /RFID Tagged material are stored, the user needs to depend on the
RSSI value (Receive Signal Strength Indication) on trial and error basis with a
fundamental logic of larger the RSSI value, the nearer the object and vice-versa.
It is difficult to judge the correct tag from a pool of tags stored in an area.
To obviate the problems of location of RFID-tags, RFID-tags are made self-
responsive, when they interact with the reader. An in-built LED and alarm of the
RFID tags will be triggered by the internal circuitry when a query is sent to it and
the LED blinks and the alarm beeps, which indicate that a correct tag is being
searched for.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
An object of the invention is to propose a RFID-tag with an inbuilt LED and
alarm.
Another object of the invention is to propose a RFID-tag which operates to
indicate that the correct tag is located.
Yet another object of the invention is to propose a RFID-tag with LED and alarm,
which is self-responsive.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
Fig. 1 shows the process flow diagram of the present invention.
Fig. 2 shows RFID tag with LED and alarm in accordance to the present
invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
OF THE INVENTION:
These tags are basically semi active tags and contain one RF Transceiver chip,
antenna, LED, Alarm and a battery etc. the LED and Alarm has been connected
to the microcontroller inside the tag which gets RF signal from RF Receiver IC. As
soon as the RF Receiver IC receives the RF signal it will pass the signal to
microcontroller and in response to that the microcontroller will trigger the LED
and Alarm connected to the I/O pins of microcontroller. The search process of
RFID tags initiate from identifying the location of tag from database. Then the
handheld Reader (HHR) is brought to the identified location and where the
handheld Reader is triggered to search mode with unique RFID tag ID. The
signal generated from the handheld Reader reaches all the RFID tags within its
range and a comparator operates to match all the tangible tags with the unique
tag ID of Handheld Reader. Once the ID matches the searched tag reverts back
a response signal to the handheld reader. Simultaneously the internal controller
of the tag activates the LED/alarm indicating the identification of correct
material.

WE CLAIM:
1. A method to identify the location of an object using a Self Responsive
Locating Device (SRLD), the method comprising the steps of:
identification of the area where the object with inbuilt tag ID is
likely to be located;
setting search mode a device, enabled to read the data of the said
object;
comparison of the data stored within the said device with the
plurality of tag ID located within the range;
generation of a response signal to the locating device wherein the
said SRLD activates a visual means and an alarm located within the
SRLD indicating identification of the object.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said SRLD comprises RFID
tags which are self responsive.
3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the RFID tags are self
responsive when they interact with a triggering means.
4. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the RFID tags are semi active
tags.
5. A self responsive locating device (SRLD) is provided comprising:

semi active RFID tags which further comprises
RF transceiver means;
means to convert electrical signal to radio waves and vice versa;
means to trigger the SRLD to search mode;
visual means to indicate the location of the object;
alarming means which is released on identification of the said
object;
wherein the said visual means and alarming means are initiated by a
controller means which further compares the data within the SRLD and
the object to be located.
6. A self response locating device (SRLD), wherein said triggering means is a
Handheld Reader (HHR).

ABSTRACT

The present invention is provided with a method to identify the location of an
object using a Self Responsive Locating Device (SRLD), the method comprising
the steps of identification of the area where the object with inbuilt tag ID is likely
to be located; setting search mode a device, enabled to read the data of the said
object; comparison of the data stored within the said device with the plurality of
tag ID located within the range; generation of a response signal to the locating
device wherein the said SRLD activates a visual means and an alarm located
within the SRLD indicating identification of the object.
