Abstract: The present invention relates to a side arrester device for supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger comprising a vertical member (3) attached to the side wall (1) of the boiler; and a first side of at least four horizontal members (2) each connected to the side wall (1), a second side of said four horizontal members (2) connected to the vertical member (3), wherein the device is attached to the combustor of the boiler so as to restrict lateral movement of the FBHE tubes when superheated including out of plane movement.

Specification

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to arrangement for arresting side movements of
superheated steam coils. The present invention particularly relates to a fluidized
bed heat exchanger. More particularly, the present invention relates to a side
arrester device for supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat
exchanger (FBHE). The present invention also relates to a method of supporting
superheated steam tubes by side arrester in FBHE.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Fluidized beds has been recognized as an attractive means of generating heat in
a heat exchanger such as a boiler, a combustor, a gasifier etc. In these
arrangements, air is passed through a bed of particulate material which normally
consists of a mixture of inert material and a fossil fuel such as coal to fluidize the
bed and to promote the combustion of the fuel. When the heat produced by the
fluidized bed is utilized to convert water to steam such as in a steam generator,
for example, the fluidized bed system offers an attractive combination of high
heat release, improved heat transfer to surfaces within the bed and compact
size.

In these types of arrangements, pluralities of heat exchanger tubes are usually
connected to external headers. To stop the transverse movement, side arresters
are provided in the combustion chamber.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore, an object of the present invention to propose a side arrester
device for supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger.
Another object of the invention is to propose a side arrester device for
supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger which limits
the stress and deflection in the device when the structural loads and thermal
loads are applied to the device.
A still another object of the present invention is to propose a side arrester device
for supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger which is
easily attachable and detachable with the combustor.
Yet another object of this invention to propose a side arrester device for
supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger, which
provides in plane structural stability of the device.
A further object of this invention is to propose a side arrester device for
supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger which is
simple in design and easy to manufacture.

A still further an object of this invention is to propose a side arrester device for
supporting superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger which
provides uniform and wide spread temperature distribution due to increase in the
heat transfer surface area.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly, there is provided is to propose a side arrester device for supporting
superheated steam tubes in fluidized bed heat exchanger. The device is enabled
to support various sections of the heat exchange tubes in a manner to prevent
lateral movement of the sections. The side supporting arrangements of the coils
are made of such a material so that relative thermal expansion gets reduced.
The device is additionally provided with a plurality of plates to give sufficient
strength in lateral movement of the device.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The above brief description, as well as further objects, features and advantages,
of the present invention will be more fully appreciated by reference to the
following detailed description of the presently but nonetheless illustrative
embodiment in accordance with the present invention, when taken in connection
with the accompanying drawings.
These features of the present invention will become more apparent upon
reference to the drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is an isometric view of a supporting device of the invention.
Figure 2 is a side view of the device of Fig.l.
Figure 3 is a top view of the device of Fig.l.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFFEREP EMBODIMENT OF THE
INVENTION
Referring specially to Fig.l of the drawings, the present invention will be
described in connection with side wall of a fluidized bed boiler.
The advantages of the present invention may be fully appreciated by explaining
the arrangement.
In the preferred embodiment, the device is made of various plate members. The
device consists of a vertical member 3 which is attached to the side wall 1 of the
boiler. Four horizontal members 2 are connected to the wall 1 at one end and
other ends of all four horizontal members 2 are connected to the vertical
member 3. The member consists of four vertical plates 3, 4. Two flat plates are
connected by other two small plates so that sufficient stiffening can be achieved
and also optimal temperature distribution in the device can be obtained. Thus,
the present invention provides an suitable means for arresting lateral
displacement. The material of the device is chosen such that the device can be

operable from thermal point of view. The device is capable to restrict lateral
movement of superheated tubes in the fluidized bed heat exchanger, and
prevent the out of plane movements in fluidized bed heat exchanger. Further,
the device is enabled to restrict the amplitude of out of plane oscillations in
fluidized the bed heat exchanger, and allows the fluidised bed heat exchanger to
operate as various sub systems with reduced overall thermal expansion of the
device. Although the device offers out of plane restriction allows in plane
expansions due to operating loads.
The device is suitable to provide supports under the dynamic behaviour of the
FBHE.

WE CLAIM :
1. A side arrester device for supporting superheated steam tubes in
fluidized bed heat exchanger, comprising :
- a vertical member (3) attached to the side wall (1) of the boiler; and
- a first side of at least four horizontal members (2) each connected to the
side wall (1), a second side of said four horizontal members (2) connected
to the vertical member (3), wherein the device is attached to the
combustor of the boiler so as to restrict lateral movement of the FBHE
tubes when superheated including out of plane movement.
2. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the device allows in-plane
expansion of the tubes due to operating loads.
