DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
The present embodiment relates to the field of haematology for staining a glass slide, and more particularly relates to a staining kit and a staining apparatus for staining the glass slide.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
A blood smear is a diagnostic test that is employed in the diagnosis of an abnormality in various components of blood. The blood smear is used in the diagnosis of a variety of diseases such as, but not limited to, anaemia, thalassemia, infections and leukaemia.
The haematological analysis involves the following steps: 1) Preparation of a glass side by spreading a drop of blood. 2) Staining of the smear through a variety of stains/dyes.
3) Analysis of the desired parameter/blood component through a microscope.
Traditionally, the blood smears are stained by dipping the glass slide in a staining solution. The lab technician holds the one end of the glass slide and dips in the staining solution. This method has a variety of disadvantages such as, but not limited to, increased risk of contamination and spillage of staining solutions, is labour intensive
and time consuming and have increased chances of dropping the slide in the staining
solutions.
Currently, a variety of automated devices are available for staining the glass slides. The automated devices include a carousel wherein the glass slide is rotated with the help of power and the staining solutions are sprayed to stain the specimen. Since, the staining
requires spraying of the glass slide with a plurality of solutions including a buffer
solution and a staining solution, it is difficult to inspect the different solutions. The automated devices have a variety of disadvantages vis-à-vis cross-contamination of slides, requires a lot of space, uneven staining as the spraying of the solutions depends on the pressure, requires a continuous power supply, is expensive and more complex
and require trained technicians for carrying out the staining procedures.
Therefore, there is a need of a staining apparatus and a staining kit that overcomes the shortcomings of the available methods for staining the specimens on the glass slide. There is also a need of the staining apparatus and the staining kit that does not depend on a power supply and is cost-effective and is easy to use.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

staining kit (100) includes a plurality of containers/vessels (102) and the staining apparatus (104). In an embodiment, the staining kit (100) is used for staining a cell on a glass slide. In another embodiment, the staining kit (100) is used for staining a tissue specimen on the glass slide.
The plurality of containers/vessels (102) is made of materials such as, but not limited to, plastic. In an embodiment, the plurality of containers/vessels (102) is made of material that is resistant to water and reagents. The plurality of containers/vessels (102) is of a variety of shapes such as, but not limited to, rectangle and spherical. In an embodiment, the diameter of the plurality of containers/vessels (102) is larger than the
diameter of the staining apparatus (104). The plurality of containers/vessels (102) is configured to retain/store a plurality of reagents required for the staining of the glass slide. In an embodiment, the plurality of containers/vessels (102) is covered with a lid. In an embodiment, the lid helps in preventing the spilling of the plurality of reagents. In another embodiment, the lid helps in preventing the cross-contamination of the
plurality of reagents. The staining apparatus (104) has a rectangular frame having a plurality of slots capable of holding the plurality of glass slides. In an embodiment, the staining apparatus (104) is capable of holding ten glass slides. The staining apparatus (104) is made of materials such as, but not limited to, metal and plastic. In an embodiment, the staining apparatus (104) is made of a material that is resistant to water and reagents. A U-shaped frame is attached to the upper end of the rectangular frame. In an embodiment, the U-shaped frame is attached to the upper end of the rectangular frame through a fastening means. In an embodiment, the U-shaped frame is capable of rotating 360° around the rectangular frame. In an embodiment, the U-shaped frame is capable of holding the rectangular frame. In an embodiment, the rectangular frame is dipped into the plurality of containers/vessels (102), with the help of the U-shaped frame. The staining apparatus (104) is easy to use and eliminates the risk of cross-contamination. The staining apparatus (104) is capable of staining the plurality of glass slides and does not require skilled technicians.
