A Supporting Element In A Fuel Injection Pump

Abstract: The fuel injection pump 10 comprises a plunger 12 positioned in a barrel 14, one end of the plunger 12 is connected to a spring plate 16. The pump 10 comprises 5 a spring 18 located at a bottom portion 15 of the barrel 14. The pump 10 comprises a supporting element 20 fitted at the bottom portion 15 of the barrel 14, such that a portion of the spring 18 encounters the supporting element 20, restricting a movement of the spring 18. With the above-disclosed supporting element 20, the position of the spring 18 is 10 maintained in a single location without any displacement during the handling process.

Specification

Claims:1. A fuel injection pump (10) comprising :
- a plunger (12) positioned in a barrel (14), one end of the plunger (12) is
connected to a 5 spring plate (16);
- a spring (18) located at a bottom portion (15) of said barrel (14) ;
characterized in that:
- a supporting element (20) fitted at said bottom portion (15) of said
barrel (14), such that a portion of said spring (18) encounters said
10 supporting element (20), restricting a movement of said spring (18).
2. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said supporting
element (20) is in a form of a ring/circular/non-circular structure with at
least two extensions (22) made on said supporting element (20).
3. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 2, wherein said at least two
extensions (22) are made in the form of a claw-shape or ā€œCā€ shape and are
integrated into said supporting element (20).
4. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said supporting
element (20) is fitted to said bottom portion (15) of said barrel (14) using at
least one fitting techniques comprising a press-fit, a snap fit, a fastener.
5. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein dimensions of
25 said supporting element (20) is made corresponding to dimensions of said
spring (18) and said bottom portion (15) of said barrel (14).
6. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said supporting
element (20) is made of a flexible material and said supporting element (20)
30 is chosen from a group of materials comprising a sheet metal, a high grade
plastic material and the like.
7. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a top dead coil
(24) of said spring (18) is held by at least two extensions 5 (22), when said
spring (18) is pushed into said supporting element (20) during assembly.
8. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 7, wherein said at least two
extensions (22) moves away while assembling said spring (18) into said
10 supporting element (20).
9. The fuel injection pump (10) as claimed in claim 7, wherein due to the
position of said top dead coil (24) of said spring (18) in said at least two
extensions (22) of said supporting element (20), said movement of said
15 spring (18) is restricted. , Description:The fuel injection pump 10 comprises a plunger 12 positioned in a barrel 14, one end of
the plunger 12 is connected to a spring plate 16. The pump 10 comprises 5 a spring 18
located at a bottom portion 15 of the barrel 14. The pump 10 comprises a supporting
element 20 fitted at the bottom portion 15 of the barrel 14, such that a portion of the
spring 18 encounters the supporting element 20, restricting a movement of the spring
18. With the above-disclosed supporting element 20, the position of the spring 18 is
10 maintained in a single location without any displacement during the handling process.
