Abstract: The invention relates to a switch assembly. The switch assembly of the invention comprises atleast one module insert has atleast one functionality of the load integrated therein. A mounting plate is provided for mounting the one or more module inserts. Each of the module insert has a touch screen corresponding to one or more functionalities of the load provided therein. Fig.l
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a switch assembly, and more particularly to a switch assembly that is modular.
BACKGROUND
Generally, a switch assembly is an electrical component used for electrically connecting the load to the power supply. Such switch assembly is employed for various loads like fan, light etc. Conventionally, each load has a switch assembly that is dedicated to its corresponding function. In other words, each load has a switch assembly that is stand-alone, which needs to be fitted to the mounting plate individually, and owing to the considerably larger size of each of the switch assembly due to its independent functionality, the switch board consisting of such switches occupies more space.
With the advent of technology, switch assembly having one or more functionalities integrated therein are available. Further, such switches having integrated functionalities provide the touch screen capability in respect of operating those switch assemblies. Here, the touch screen is being provided in a single planar form. Also, the combinations of functionalities, that such switch assembly providing integrated functionalities, are very limited, as they directly contribute to increase in the size of the touch screen and of the switch assembly thereof. This renders these switch assemblies closer to being stand-alone, like the conventional switch assemblies.
Moreover, it becomes difficult or even impossible to replace the existing switch assembly that is conventional or having touch screen with other switch assemblies of different functionality or added / altered functionalities, due to the incompatibility in the sizes of the switch assembly
Hence there is need for a switch assembly that provides a variety of combinations of functionalities improving the flexibility in employing the desired integrated functionalities or of its combination thereof, with reduced or less space.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the invention to provide a switch assembly that is modular.
It is another object of the invention to provide a switch assembly that provides improved combination of functionalities or of flexibility in combination of functionalities thereof.
It is yet another object of the invention to provide a switch assembly that has reduced or lesser space.
Further object of the invention is to provide a switch assembly that provides retrofit solution in replacing the existing switch assemblies with similar or additional / altered functionalities.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly the present invention provides a switch assembly. The switch assembly of the invention comprises atleast one module insert has atleast one functionality of the load integrated therein. A mounting plate is provided for mounting the one or more module inserts. Each of the module insert has a touch screen corresponding to one or more functionalities of the load provided therein.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The invention is further described herein after with reference to non-exhaustive exemplary embodiment and with reference to Figs. 1 and 2.
In Figs. 1 and 2, a switch assembly (100) for connecting one or more loads to the power supply is shown. The switch assembly (100) has one or more module insert (101). Each module insert (101) has one or more functionality of the load integrated therein. The functionality of the load referred herein includes but not limited to fan, light etc. Accordingly, a switch assembly may have only one function of the load, for instance, only fan or light. Whilst, a switch assembly may also have more than one functionality integrated therein, for instance, two lights, or one light and one light dimmer, two light dimmer, three lights and so on catering to all possible combinations thereof.
Each of the module insert (101) has a touch screen (103) fitted on to it and in correspondence with the functionality of the load integrated therein in the module insert (101). Each of the module insert (101) is fitted to a mounting plate (102) by a suitable fitting arrangement such as snap fit etc.
The mounting plate (102) fitted with one or more module inserts (101) is fitted to the concealed electrical box by a suitable fitting arrangement such as snap fit etc. A cover or frame (104) is provided to cover the mounting plate (102), and suitably exposes the touch screen (103) enabling the user to operate the switch assembly (100) through the touch screen (103).
Here, each of the module inserts (101) is provided with one or more functionalities of the load in a variety of possible combinations thereby increasing the flexibility to choose the combination that is required for installation. Also, the switch assembly (100) has the compatibility and capability to replace the existing and conventional switch assemblies already been installed thereby providing a retrofit solution.

The invention is not restricted by the preferred embodiment described herein in the description. It is to be noted that the invention is explained by way of exemplary embodiment and is neither exhaustive nor limiting. Certain aspects of the invention that not been elaborated herein in the description are well understood by one skilled in the art. Also, the terms relating to singular form used herein in the description also include its plurality and vice versa, wherever applicable. Any relevant modification or variation, which is not described specifically in the specification are in fact to be construed of being well within the scope of the invention. The appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications and changes which fall within the spirit of the invention.
Thus, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the present invention can be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. The presently disclosed embodiments are therefore considered in all respects to be illustrative and not restricted. The scope of the invention is indicated by the appended claims rather than the foregoing description and all changes that come within the meaning and range and equivalence thereof are intended to be embraced therein.
WE CLAIM:
1. A switch assembly comprising:
atleast one module insert having atleast one functionality of the load integrated therein; a mounting plate for mounting the said atleast one module insert; wherein the said atleast one module insert each, has a touch screen corresponding to one or more functionalities of the load provided therein.
2. The switch assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said functionality of the load includes one or more of light, fan or the like.
3. The switch assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said mounting plate is fixed to the electrical box.
4. The switch assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said mounting plate is fitted with a cover or a frame for covering the said mounting plate and suitably exposing the said touch screen corresponding to each of the said atleast one module insert.
5. The switch assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said atleast one module insert is mounted on the said mounting plate by a suitable fitting arrangement.
6. The switch assembly as claimed in claim 4, wherein the said mounting plate is fitted with the said cover or said frame by a suitable fitting arrangement.
7. The switch assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein the said fitting arrangement includes snap fit or the like.
8. The switch assembly as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the said functionalities of the load integrated therein includes possible combination of two or more of the said functionalities of the load.
9. The switch assembly as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the said atleast one module insert coexist with one or more other module insert having similar functionalities of the load of the said atleast one module or having possible combination of two or more of the said functionalities of the load, in relation to each of the said other module.
10. The switch assembly as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the said switch assembly is modular and capable of replacing the one or more of other switch assemblies preexisting to the said switch assembly.
