Abstract: The water purifier 100 comprises a housing 102, to house plurality of purifying components. The purifying components comprise at least two filters namely a first filter 108 and a second filter 110. The first filter 108 receives raw water from an inlet 104 and filters some contamination and delivers the water to second filter. The second filter removes remaining contamination and delivers pure water through an outlet 112. There is a partition 120 located in the housing 102, the partition 120 partitions the internal space of the housing 100 into a first compartment 120a and a second compartment 120b. Some of the purifying components are fitted in the first compartment 120a some of the purifying components are fitted in the second compartment 120b. The housing 102 provides access to the first compartment 120a from a first direction and access to the second compartment 120b from a second direction. Fig. 1

, Description:Field of the invention
[0001] The invention relates to the field of water purifier. The invention relates in specific to filter the raw water to make it potable.
Background of the invention
[0002] Water purifiers to filter raw water for drinking purposes are already known in the prior arts. Normally these water purifiers use one or more mechanisms such as filters, UV lamp, etc., to filter out contamination, bacteria etc.
[0003] The prior art US 6797165 discloses a modular water purifier. The water purifier in the prior art discloses a plurality of filter canister receptacles, each receptacle having a diverter valve for routing water into and out of the particular canister installed in the receptacle. The filter configuration, including filter type, filter quality, and filter sequence, is changed by simply installing different filter canisters into the diverter valves.

The water purifier comprises a housing, to house plurality of purifying components; said purifying components comprising at least two filters namely a first filter and a second filter; said first filter receiving raw water from an inlet; said second filter delivering filtered water through an outlet; said first and second filters being in fluid communication with each other; a partition located in said housing; said partition partitioning internal space of the housing into a first compartment and a second compartment; at least one of said purifying component being fitted in said first compartment and at least one of said purifying component being fitted in said second compartment; said partition supporting the purifying components; and said housing providing access to said first compartment from a first direction, said housing providing access to said second compartment from a second direction
Brief description of the accompanying drawings
[0005] Different modes of the invention are disclosed in detail in the description and illustrated in the accompanying drawing:
[0006] Figure 1 shows internals of the water purifier according to one embodiment of the invention
[0007] Figure 2 shows front panel of the water purifier according to one embodiment of the invention
Detailed description of the accompanying drawings
[0008] Fig. 1 shows internal components of a water purifier 100. The water purifier 100 is just referred as purifier 100 in the rest of the document. In fig. 1, only the important components are shown and the components which are commonly known are not shown. The purifier 100 comprises a housing 102 to house all the components; an inlet 104 to supply raw water to the purifier 100; a pump 106 to draw water through the inlet 104; at least two filters namely a first filter 108 to filter out one set of contamination and a second filter 110 to further filter the water by removing remaining contamination; a water outlet 112 supplying filtered water; an accumulator which is not shown, connected between the second filter 110 and the water outlet 112. There are valves which are not shown in fig. 1, for opening and closing the inlet 104 and outlet 112. There is a drain pipe 115 which is not shown in fig.1, provided to clean the second filter 110.
[0009] All the components within the housing are referred as purifying components individually or collectively. These purifying components are also referred just as components in the document. Thus the filters, pump, valves, pipes etc. are individually or collectively referred as purifying components.
[00010] The line 124 represents front side of the purifier and referred as front panel indicating it is the front panel when viewed from front. Similarly the line 126 represents the rear side and indicates it is a rear panel.
[00011] The front panel 124 opens in the direction marked as ‘A’ and the rear panel opens in the direction marked as ‘B’.
[00012] The purifier discloses only two filters, but in different embodiments there may be more than two filters to filter the contamination.
[00013] Fig 2. Shows front view of the purifier 100 showing the front panel. The housing has 5 other panels which are not shown in figures. For example the housing has the rear panel 126 which provides access to the components from the rear side or from a second direction; a left panel; a right panel; upper plate and a bottom plate. The front panel 124 provides access to the components from the front side or from a first direction. The first direction and the second direction are indicative of accessing the components from front side or rear side.
[00014] All these six panels may be fitted together to form the complete housing 102. There is a partition 120 within the housing which may be parallel to the front and rear panels or may be perpendicular to the front and rear panels. The partition 120 divides the internal space within the housing into two compartments; a first compartment 120a and a second compartment 120b. The partition 120 may be running from upper plate to lower plate or may be running short of touching either the upper plate or the lower plate. The partition 120 may be also placed horizontally and in perpendicular axis compared to front panel. In such a case, the partition 120 may divide the internal space into upper part 120a and a lower part 120b, which are not shown. There are some purifying components which are fixed to the partition in first compartment 120a. There are some purifying components which are fixed to the partition in second compartment 120b. In one embodiment where the partition is parallel to front panel, the purifying components which are in the first compartment 120a are accessed from the first direction and the purifying components which are in the second compartment 120b are accessed from the second direction. In another embodiment where the partition is placed horizontally the purifying components in both compartments can be accessed from both directions.
[00015] The front view in fig. 2 shows the control panel 202 used to control and program the purifier 100. The front panel 124 is normally connected to the frame 100 using a chain retainer so that the front panel 124 may be opened like a door to access the components inside the housing. In one embodiment the rear panel may be fixed to the frame using locks on the side panels. This rear panel can be removed completely from the housing. In another embodiment the rear panel may be connected using hinges so that the rear panel may be opened like a door. In another embodiment the rear panel is fixed to the frame using connecting elements like nuts and bolts. When the rear panel is connected using nuts and bolts, the rear panel is completely detachable from the frame 100 by removing the nuts and bolts. Detaching the rear panel completely from the frame, provides more access to the components located at the rear part of the purifier.
[00016] The partition 120 provides a flexibility to fix some of the components to it from both sides. For example the first filter may be fitted to the partition from one side and the second filter may be fitted to the partition from the other side. Similarly the pump and the accumulator may be fixed to the partition from different sides so that all the components are accessed with ease either by opening the front panel or rear panel, making the purifier compact.
[00017] The partition 120 provides suitable fixing provisions 122 like clamps, screws, nuts etc. using which the components are firmly fixed to the partition within the housing 100 so that they do not vibrate or move. By fixing the components to the partition 120 makes the purifier compact and all the components are easily accessible. Also it is possible that some of the components are fixed to front panel or back panel or to both.
[00018] There is also an accumulator which is used to store water for back wash of the filter when the filter is clogged. The water is passed in the reverse direction in the second filter and the water is drained out through the drain pipe 115.
[00019] The accumulator and the drain pipe 115 are fixed to the partition 120 from same side or different sides.
[00020] By providing a partition 120 within the housing and by fixing the components to the partition 120, the invention provides a compact purifier. Also as both the panels namely the rear panel and front panel can be opened to access the internal components of the purifier. This makes the servicing of the purifier very easy.
