Abstract: The present disclosure relates to aerosol based spray talc formulations in non-contact application format addressing the associated drawbacks such as use of palms or applicator for uniform application, and minimizing loss of formulation. The formulations comprise a combination of boric acid, salicylic acid, menthol, and zinc oxide at particular w/w ratios to achieve desired characteristics.
Claims:1. An aerosol based spray talc comprising:
a. a mixture consisting of boric acid, salicylic acid, zinc oxide, and menthol;
b. iso propyl alcohol;
c. talc; and
d. at least one propellant,
wherein mixture to talc w/w ratio is in the range of 1:1-1:3.72, mixture to iso propyl alcohol w/w ratio is in the range of 1:1.1-1:3.5, and mixture to at least one propellant w/w ratio is in the range of 1:6.5-1:22.
2. The aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 1, wherein boric acid to salicylic acid w/w ratio is in the range of 1:0.4-1:1.5.
3. The aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 1, wherein said at least one propellant is selected from the group consisting of liquefied petroleum gas, nitrogen, dimethyl ether, carbon dioxide, hydro-fluorocarbon, and combinations thereof.
4. The aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 1, further comprising at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of allantoin, stearalkonimum hectorite, propylene carbonate, and combinations thereof.
5. An aerosol based spray talc comprising:
a. allantoin having w/w concentration in the range of 0.01-0.05%;
b. stearalkonimum hectorite having w/w concentration in the range of 0.1-0.5%;
c. propylene carbonate having w/w concentration in the range of 0.01-0.2%;
d. talc having w/w concentration in the range of 8.5-13%;
e. iso propyl alcohol having w/w concentration in the range of 11-12%;
f. boric acid having w/w concentration in the range of 1-5%;
g. zinc oxide having w/w concentration of 0.5-1.5%;
h. salicylic acid having w/w concentration in the range of 1.5-2%;
i. menthol having w/w concentration in the range of 0.5-1%;
j. propellant having w/w concentration in the range of 64-76%; and
k. fragrance having w/w concentration in the range of 0.6-1.2%.
6. The aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 5, as prickly heat spray talc, said spray talc comprising:
a. allantoin having w/w concentration of 0.01%;
b. stearalkonimum hectorite having w/w concentration of 0.4%;
c. propylene carbonate having w/w concentration of 0.12%;
d. talc having w/w concentration of 12.6%;
e. iso propyl alcohol having w/w concentration of 11.87%;
f. boric acid having w/w concentration of 1%;
g. zinc oxide having w/w concentration of 1%;
h. salicylic acid having w/w concentration of 1.5%;
i. menthol having w/w concentration of 0.5%;
j. liquefied petroleum gas having w/w concentration of 70%; and
k. fragrance having w/w concentration of 1%.
7. The aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 5, as antifungal spray talc, said spray talc comprising:
a. allantoin having w/w concentration of 0.01%;
b. stearalkonimum hectorite having w/w concentration of 0.4%;
c. propylene carbonate having w/w concentration of 0.12%;
d. talc having w/w concentration of 8.97%;
e. iso propyl alcohol having w/w concentration of 11%;
f. boric acid having w/w concentration of 5%;
g. zinc oxide having w/w concentration of 1%;
h. salicylic acid having w/w concentration of 2%;
i. menthol having w/w concentration of 0.5%;
j. liquefied petroleum gas having w/w concentration of 70%; and
k. fragrance having w/w concentration of 1%.
8. The aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 5, as anti-itch spray talc, said spray talc comprising:
a. allantoin having w/w concentration of 0.01%;
b. stearalkonimum hectorite having w/w concentration of 0.4%;
c. propylene carbonate having w/w concentration of 0.12%;
d. talc having w/w concentration of 12.47%;
e. iso propyl alcohol having w/w concentration of 11.5%;
f. boric acid having w/w concentration of 1%;
g. zinc oxide having w/w concentration of 1%;
h. salicylic acid having w/w concentration of 1.5%;
i. menthol having w/w concentration of 1%;
j. liquefied petroleum gas having w/w concentration of 70%; and
k. fragrance having w/w concentration of 1%.
9. A method of preparing an aerosol based spray talc as claimed in claim 1, said method comprising:
a. in a first container, mixing talc, boric acid, zinc oxide, salicylic acid to obtain a premix A;
b. in a second container, adding iso propyl alcohol and stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm;
c. adding menthol to second container under stirring until a homogeneous solution is obtained;
d. adding premix A from first container to the second container of step (c) under stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm for 30 to 45 minutes to obtain premix B; and
e. transferring premix B into a suitable dispenser along with propellant in a w/w ratio of 30:70 to obtain the spray talc,
wherein (boric acid and salicylic acid and zinc oxide and menthol) to talc w/w ratio is in the range of 1:1-1:3.72, (boric acid and salicylic acid and zinc oxide and menthol) to iso propyl alcohol w/w ratio is in the range of 1:1.1-1:3.5, and (boric acid and salicylic acid and zinc oxide and menthol) to propellant w/w ratio is in the range of 1:6.5-1:22.
10. A method of preparing an aerosol based spray talc as claimed in any of the claims 5-8, said method comprising:
a. mixing allantoin, talc, boric acid, zinc oxide, and salicylic acid in a first container to obtain a premix A;
b. adding isopropyl alcohol in a second container and stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm;
c. adding menthol to the second container under stirring to obtain a homogeneous solution;
d. adding stearalkonium hectorite to the solution from step (c) and stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm for 10-15 minutes;
e. adding propylene carbonate to the solution from step (d) and stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm for 5-10 minutes;
f. adding the premix A from the first container to the second container in step (e) under stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm for 30 to 45 minutes;
g. adding fragrance to the above mixture of step (f) while stirring at 800 to 2000 rpm for 30-45 minutes to obtain a premix B; and
h. transferring premix B into a suitable dispenser along with propellant in a w/w ratio of 30:70 to obtain the spray talc.
11. The method as claimed in any of the claims 9-10, wherein said method is carried out at room temperature in the range of 22-32°C.
