DESC:FIELD OF THE INVENTION:

[001] The present invention relates to an air purifier, more particularly to a device for purifying air using a water filter or water assisted pre filter or a water curtain.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:

[002] At present, India’s urban air pollution is very serious, the frequent occurrence of fog and haze, affects daily lives of the people and cause serious physical and mental health problems. Due to increase in number of vehicles day by day, pollution, smoke and air borne diseases are on the rise especially in urban areas. Even the air we breathe in our homes and work place also gets contaminated due to pollution in outside environment. We are surrounded with a lot of pollutants every time. It is very important to protect family from indoor pollutants. To overcome these problems and to breathe safe and healthy air at homes, offices and other places, air purifier is becoming the necessity of daily life. Need of Air Purifier is arising year on year due to PM2.5 pollutants increase in atmosphere & this pollutant can enter human lungs through respiration process. Air purifiers are especially important in houses because they quickly and quietly clear allergens and other particles. These devices are beneficial for allergy sufferers and asthmatics, and at reducing smoke, mold spores, pollen, bacteria, viruses, pet dander, and other pollutants.

[003] Air purifiers use a Fan/Blower to suck the surrounding air which is then passed through a series of filters like Pre Filter, HEPA, Post Carbon filter, UV etc. and purified air is discharged in the room. This process repeats continuously to keep the air clean and all the dust particles, bacteria, viruses, gases etc. are trapped in these filters. All the existing Air Purifiers available in the market have Dry filters viz the Pre filter, HEPA, Carbon, Ionizer, UV etc. Due to large dust particles in the environment, the filters get clogged as these particles are trapped inside the filters pores. Over a period of time under such situation, the user has to frequently clean the dust and dirt accumulated on the filters and at the same time big particles reduces the life of filters as they broaden the size of filter holes. Consumer has to replace them on regular interval which increases the running cost of the product.

[004] Hence, there is a need to further develop superior performance products which has higher purification efficiency, cost-effective and with a longer filter life.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:

[005] The present invention relates to an air purifier, more particularly to a device for purifying air using a water filter or water assisted pre filter or a water curtain.

[006] According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an air purifier which purifies the air using water filter or water assisted pre filter or a water curtain. The present invention makes use of water as a medium for removal of polluting agents in the air purifier device. The air passes through this filter and all the big size dust and dirt particles are trapped and flow down with water.

[007] This technique is very effective to counter polluting agents and traps big size dust and dirt particles which further enhances the life of other filters and reduce the cleaning frequency phenomenally. As heavy particles are entrapped in the water filter or a water assisted pre filter or water curtain, the filter life and performance of the purifier is increased and consumer gets fresh air all the time. This also reduces the running cost of the device as the filter need not be replaced frequently and hence lowers the replacement cost.

DESCRIPTION

[012] According to an embodiment of the present invention, air purifier with a water filter or a water assisted pre filter or a water curtain is described in Fig-2. Water is considered as an effective media for removal of polluting agents and efficiently removes heavy and big sized dust and dirt particles. It involves additional parts such as the Water Assisted Pre Filter, Pump, Water distribution tray, Water pipe and a Water reservoir in the Air Purifier. Water Distribution Tray has minor holes which is used to disburse water. The water reservoir stores the water which is circulated using a small pump. The water is circulated in close vicinity or along with the Pre Filter to create a sort of water curtain which purifies the air passing through it. The circulation of water through the pump can be controlled and programmed through a PCB whenever required to achieve optimum filtration.

Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
,CLAIMS:We Claim:

1. An air purifier, said air purifier comprising of:
i. a filter;
ii. a fan;
iii. a housing;
iv. a motor;
characterized in that said purifier purifies the air using a water filter or water assisted pre-filter that is capable of creating a curtain of water thereby purifying the air.

2. An air purifier as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the said air purifier further comprises of:
i. water filter;
ii. pump;
iii. drip tray; and
iv. water tray.

3. An air purifier as claimed in Claim 1, wherein water is used as a medium for the purification of air.

4. An air purifier as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, wherein the drip tray is provided with minor holes thereby disbursing the water.

5. The method of purification of air by an air purifier as claimed in Claim 1, said method comprising the steps of:

i. storing of water in water tray;
ii. circulating the stored water through the pump;
iii. creating a water curtain along with the pre-filter;
iv. purifying the air passing through said water curtain.

6. The method of purification of air as claimed in Claim 5, wherein the circulation of water through the pump is controlled and programmed through the PCB.
