Specification

Field of Invention
The invention relates to an Electrostatic Precipitator used typically in coal fired thermal power stations / Industrial applications to collect the particulate matter from the flue gas before letting through chimney to avoid environmental pollution.
In the particular, invention relates to an Integrated Operating System (IOS) which controls and monitor of the ESP. The system sends command to all ESP controllers and also monitors and records the status.
Background of the Invention
Electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are configured with a number of fields, which have collecting and emitting electrodes. A high electric field is generated between the electrodes to charge the dust particles and collect the charged particles on the collecting electrodes. Collected dust layer is dislodged using rapping mechanism with suitable hammers. High voltage is generated by means of a high voltage transformer-rectifier. Rapping motors are used for operating the hammers to remove the collected dust layer from the collecting electrodes.
Each field is provided with one high voltage transformer- rectifier and rapping motors for collecting and emitting electrode rapping. The transformer-rectifier and rapping motor are controlled and monitored by micro-controller based controllers, generally called ESP controller. The ESP controllers control and monitor various electrical parameters like feedback current, average voltage,

peak voltage and valley voltage, alarm conditions of the high voltage transformer-rectifier and rapping motor on / off feedback.
The system developed is a web browser based system which acquires most of the electrical parameters, rapping motor status, rapping frequencies etc from the ESP controllers and serve as web pages to any typical computer/controller which wants to monitor and control ESP controllers. All interfaces to the operator will be served through the system. This will reduce the burden of continuously modifying and updating IOS software for version changes in Operating System and Development Tools.
The prior art provides a computer based system which communicates to the controllers of the entire ESP in a cyclic manner and monitors all the electrical parameters, the rapping motor status, rapping frequencies etc. of the individual ESP fields for the purpose of display in a user friendly GUI, logging the relevant parameters for later reference, communicate the status to the plant DCS, etc. This system depends on the hardware of the computer and on the operating system too.
Objects of the Invention
An object of the present invention is to provide an Embedded IOS for control and monitoring of ESP controllers so that the system neither depends on computer hardware nor on the operating system of the computer.
Another object of the invention is to provide a low maintenance system.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a system, which connected to the internet, where the ESP data can be monitored from any device.

Summary of the Invention
An Integrated Operating System (IOS) is provided that controls and monitors the ESP from a remote place such as Unit control Board/ESP Control Room. In the existing art, an Integrated Operating System (IOS) is a computer based system which depends on computer hardware and as well as on operating system due to which version control and software maintenance becomes difficult. The Embedded IOS is system, which neither depends on computer hardware nor on Operating system. A hardware in line with the existing controller is developed. The Embedded IOS system acquires data from all field controllers and serves as web pages to computer/controller which monitors and controls the ESP controllers. All interfaces to the operator are served through any standard web browser. This reduces the burden of continuously modifying and updating the software for version changes in Operating System and Development Tools.
Brief Description of Accompanying Drawings
Figure [1] - shows a block diagram of the Embedded IOS, with various inputs and output in a typical ESP.
Figure [2] - shows the internal block diagram of the Embedded IOS representing a single block [1] in figure [1]
Detailed description of the preferred embodiment
Figure [1] shows an Embedded IOS [1] apparatus which communicates with various ESP controllers [3], [4] through RS-485 [5], Controller Area Network (CAN) [6] and GSM [7]mode. It receives Analog Inputs from Boiler as a Boiler

Load [12], from Opacity monitor as Opacity input [8]. It also receives Digital input such as calibration [9], and provides output in terms of relay output [10]. The Embedded IOS [1] hardware converts all inputs into a web page and transmits it to a Hub/Ethernet [11] switch through Ethernet mode. At the Hub/Ethernet [11] switch computers [2] are connected to monitor and control the operation of an ESP from a single location.
Figure [2] shows the Embedded IOS apparatus that comprises of Central Processing Unit (CPU) Card [A], an Input-Output (IO) Card [B] and Power Supply card [13]. The CPU card [A], contains a microcontroller [1], which controls the whole system. It is supported by various memories such as Static Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) [2], FLASH Memory[3] and Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM)[4] to store web pages and various controller data.
The IO card contains 8 No Opto-couplers [6], that provides 8 Digital inputs, 8 No RCV4 20 & ISO 124 [8] for providing 8 No isolated analog inputs. It also has a provision for two Nos Relay outputs [10]. It supports Ethernet [7], RS485 [9], RS232 [11] and CAN [12] communication. Block [13] is a main power supply board, which provides power supplies such as 3.3V, 5 V, -15V.+15 V and also an isolated power supply (+15V &-15V) needed for isolated analog inputs.

We claim:-
1. An embedded integrated operating system to communicate with plurality of ESP, wherein the apparatus receives data from a boiler, opacity monitor ESP Controller and other parameters,
wherein said data received are transmitted through an Ethernet mode.
wherein computers (2) are connected to monitor and control the functioning of the ESP.
2. The embedded integrated operating system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the apparatus comprises of a CPU card input output card and power supply card.
3. The embedded integrated operating system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the apparatus can also function as multi-communication protocol converter.
4. The embedded integrated operating system as claimed in claim 1, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
