Abstract: This invention relates to an improved Deaerator for dual deaeration comprising of a storage tank provided with an opening and mounted with a bellow type spray nozzle and initial heating pipe is connected to sparger pipes on both sides.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an improved Deaerator for dual
deaeration.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
Deaerators are used in power plant to remove any non
condensable gases mainly oxygen and carbon Di-Oxide. The same
is achieved.
1. By heating condensate to saturation temperature there by
reducing the solubility of dissolved gases to zero.
2. By reducing the concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere
surrounding condensate i.e. by venting non condensable
gases to atmosphere.
This is achieved by proper arrangement of Spray Valves and Trays
in Pressure vessels called
1. Storage Tank
2. Deaerator Heater
3. Vent Condenser
Depending upon the scheme of achieving Deaeration, Deaerators
are divided into following 3 types.
1. Tray type
2. Spray Tray
3. Spray cum Tray type.
Currently, Deaerator has only one of the three schemes of
Deaeration.
The present invention is to combine two schemes of Deaeration in
a single type of Deaerator to obtain greater reliability and
availability.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
An objective of the present invention is to propose an improved
Deaerator for dual deaeration. This is done by upgrading the
existing Spray Cum Tray type to dual Deaerator by introducing the
Spray type of Deaeration.
A further objective of the present invention is to propose an
improved Deaerator for dual deaeration to provide backup and a
fall back mechanism to switch over to proven design in case of any
problem with the present invention.
Yet further objective of the present invention is to propose an
improved Deaerator for dual deaeration which causes improvement
in availability and reliability at all load conditions.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided an improved
Deaerator for dual deaeration comprising of a storage tank
provided with an opening and mounted with a bellow type spray
nozzle and initial heating pipe is connected to sparger pipes on
both sides.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objectives and advantages of this invention will be more
apparent from the ensuing description when read in conjunction
with the accompanying drawings and wherein:
Fig. 1 shows prior art.
Fig. 2 shows present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH
REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The present invention discloses an improved deaerator for dual
deaeration. Reference may be made to Fig.2.
1. To have dual Deaeration, the existing storage tank is
provided with an opening and a bellow type spray nozzle of
required capacity is mounted on the storage tank.
2. The initial heating pipe is modified as steam rack by
mounting sparger pipes on both sides of initial heating pipe.
3. Steam and condensate lines are connected additionally to
bellow type spray nozzle and steam distribution pipe on
storage tank with isolation valves.
4. By opening and closing the isolation valves, deaerator can be
operated as spray type or spray cum tray (As shown in
Fig.l).
Operation
Spray type
1. The valve is closed on the condensate line to Deaerator
heater and the valve is opened on the line to bellow type
spray nozzle. This way condensate can be admitted in spray
Deaerator mode.
2. The valve is closed on the steam line to steam inlet on
Deaerator heater and the valve is opened on the steam line
to steam sparger in storage tank.
This way Deaerator can be operated as Spray Type Deaerator,
by shutting off flows in sprays cum tray mode.
Spray Cum Tray Type
1. The valve is opened on the condensate line to Deaerator
heater and the valve is closed on the line to bellow type spray
nozzle. This way condensate can be admitted in spray cum
tray mode.
2. The valve is opened on the steam line to steam inlet on
Deaerator heater and the valve is closed on the steam line to
steam sparger in storage tank.
This way Deaerator can be operated as Spray Cum Tray Type
Deaerator, shutting off flows in spray mode.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to
modifications, adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art.
Such variant embodiments employing the concepts and features of
this invention are intended to be within the scope of the present
invention, which is further set forth under the following claims:-
WE CLAIM:-
1. An improved Deaerator for dual deaeration comprising of a
storage tank provided with an opening and mounted with a

connected to sparger pipes on both sides.
2. An improved Deaerator for dual deaeration as claimed in
claim 1 wherein steam and condensate lines are connected
to bellow type spray nozzle and steam distribution pipe on
storage tank with isolation valves.
3. An improved Deaerator for dual deaeration as claimed in
claim 1 or 2 wherein the deaerator is operated as spray
type/spray cum tray by opening and closing the isolation
valves.
4. An improved Deaerator for dual deaeration substantially as
herein described with reference to the accompanying
drawing.
This invention relates to an improved Deaerator for dual deaeration
comprising of a storage tank provided with an opening and
mounted with a bellow type spray nozzle and initial heating pipe is
connected to sparger pipes on both sides.
