[03] FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[04] This invention relates generally to urinals and more particularly to a portable urinal designed to minimize water consumption for flushing yet however maintaining odor-free, hygienic conditions for long periods of time.
[05] BACKGROUND
[06] Restrooms typically contain wall and/or floor mounted urinals that provide convenient access for use. Though saving on space and water requirements in comparison to conventional water cabinets, a common problem with these urinals is that they often emit a foul odor due to urine residue and/or vaporization from splash back on walls of the urinal. Needless to say, this is highly undesirable and presents health risks.
[07] Prevention of aforementioned undesirable circumstances seems unlikely without using copious amounts of water for flushing. Flushing is clearly necessary, in order to maintain the cleanliness of the urinals and preserve the atmosphere of the conveniences concerned. In public restrooms, such as in commercial buildings and restaurants, urinals are used constantly and require frequent cleaning and maintenance. Even with frequent cleaning, unpleasant odors are frequently emitted from urinals. Additionally, not all users remember to flush after use of a urinal, thereby aggravating the aforementioned problems. Thus, it is important to have means to flush-clean and deodorize urinals on a regular basis. However, water is a precious resource and its continuous supply is not guaranteed, therefore, minimizing its use and wastage is a critical priority.
[08] Therefore it is an acute need in the art for urinals which provide effective solutions to the aforementioned problems besides being cost-effective to manufacture, transport, install, operate and maintain. Attempts at meeting these needs find mention in state of the art. Low water consumption / auto-flushing urinals and water-free urinals have been proposed in various combinations but have enjoyed limited success as they still suffer from splash-back and often emit a foul odor over prolonged use or non-use.
[09] Prior art, to the limited extent studied, does not list any single successful solution to all the aforesaid requirements, thus preserving an acute need and room to invent for the present inventors who have now arrived at a novel solution for addressing needs of the art once for all. The following description presents one way of performing the present invention identified in effectively meeting all of the objects set out under.
[010] OBJECTIVES
[011] Principle object of the present invention is to meet all encumbrances listed above and provide a portable urinal designed to minimize water consumption for flushing yet however maintaining odor-free, hygienic conditions for long periods of time.
[012] This and other objects, advantages and their attainment will become subsequently apparent in the detailed description to follow, which showcases a single preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[015] DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[016] General purpose of the present invention is to assess disabilities and shortcomings inherent to known methodologies comprising state of the art and propose novel solutions incorporating all available advantages of prior art and none of its disadvantages. Accordingly, the present invention is directed towards the design, construction and implementation of a portable urinal designed to minimize water consumption for flushing yet however maintaining odor-free, hygienic conditions for long periods of time.
[017] A better understanding of the objects, advantages, features, properties and relationships of the present invention will be obtained from the following narration which sets forth a single preferred embodiment which is nonetheless indicative of the various ways in which the principles of the invention may be embodied.
[018] The present invention aims to provide a urinal with features that reduce splash-back, vaporization and other phenomena causing hygiene and odor problems. This is achieved as described in the brief description to follow.
[019] According to constructional aspects of the present invention, in a yet-preferred embodiment and referring to Fig. 1, it may be seen that the urinal proposed herein comprises a portable urinal with a water tank mounted on top. Suitable arrangement of conduits and taps is made for conveying the water in a controlled manner to the urinal where it is dispensed at a slow rate, preferably drop-by-drop, to maintain a continuous flushing action that minimizes water consumption yet however maintains odor-free, hygienic conditions for long periods of use or non-use. In an isolated embodiment, the flow rate of water is maintained at 60 L/hr. Another tank is annexed to bottom of the urinal which collects the sewage and flush runoff for appropriate treatment and disposal.
[020] It is an intention of the present invention to provide the improved urinal in units comprising a single urinal or plurality of urinals each essentially embodying the basic principles of drip-flushing disclosed above.
[021] It is another intention of the present inventor to include, in optional embodiments of the present invention, deodorizing and disinfecting ingredients to the water used for flushing and, in yet other embodiments, to have separate tanks for selectively dispensing said ingredients in response to manual, time-linked or other chemical stimuli.
[022] As will be realized, the present invention is capable of various other embodiments and that its several components and related details are capable of various alterations, all without departing from the basic concept of the present invention. Accordingly, descriptions will be regarded as illustrative in nature and not as restrictive in any form whatsoever. Modifications and variations of the system and apparatus described herein will be obvious to those skilled in the art. Such modifications and variations are intended to come within the scope of the appended claims
,CLAIMS:1] A urinal unit characterized in being of portable dimensions and adapted to minimize water consumption for flushing while maintaining odor-free, hygienic conditions for long periods of time.
