An Optimization Of A Three Phase Bus Duct System Configuration

Abstract: The bus bars belonging to three phase bus duct system are optimally arranged in rectangular and circular enclosures to reduce over-all losses. The three phase bus duct system configuration with bus bars belonging to only one phase of three phases are arranged in line with each other and bus bars belonging to other phases are arranged diagonally with each other in a rectangular enclosure of configurations 2 and 3. In configuration 9, a set of bus bars of each phase (SET-I) are arranged in a circle and at the vertices of equilateral triangle in circular enclosure. The second set of bus bars belonging to each phase (SET-II) are arranged at mid-points of the equivalent triangle such that the phase of the each bus bar arranged at a mid-point of the equivalent triangle is not same as the phase of adjacent bus bars located at vertices of equivalent triangle.
