AN OUTDOOR LIGHT
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure described herein, in general, relates to LED outdoor light, and more particularly the LED outdoor light that uses LED as a light source and attach the base body with the heat sink through insert moulding technique so that there is no air gap between the base body and the heat sink and thus reduce the thermal resistance between the LED and the outer heat dissipating surface which help in efficient heat dissipation or management.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed subject matter, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] In general, an outdoor light is a lighting facility installed along the street for the safety and security of the street. It is composed of a pillar and a streetlight head that is installed at the end of the pillar. An electric lamp is provided inside the street lamp head, and the town is illuminated by the light emitted from the lamp.
[0004] A floodlight is also a type of outdoor light. It is a broad-beamed, high-intensity artificial light. They are often used to illuminate outdoor playing fields while an outdoor sports event is being held during low-light conditions. More focused kinds are often used as a stage lighting instrument in live performances such as concerts and plays.
[0005] In the top tiers of many professional sports, it is a requirement for stadiums to have floodlights to allow games to be scheduled outside daylight hours. Evening or night matches may suit spectators who have
work or other commitments earlier in the day, and enable television broadcasts during lucrative primetime hours. Some sports grounds which do not have permanent floodlights installed may make use of portable temporary ones instead. Many larger floodlights will have gantries for bulb changing and maintenance. These will usually be able to accommodate one or two maintenance workers.
[0006] Since outdoor lights often use general bulbs, their service life is short and their impact resistance is also reduced. Recently, high-luminosity LEDs (light-emitting diodes) with excellent impact resistance while their service life has been greatly extended.
[0007] A conventional LED street/flood light that are available in market with main body that completely made up of metal (mostly in casting process) & for this type of design, a driver should be isolated from main body due to safety concern of users, so, due to which electronics design solution should be isolated type.
[0008] In electronics, a driver is a circuit or component that is used to control another circuit or component, such as a high-power transistor or MOSFET, inductors, and numerous others. They are usually used to regulate current flowing through a circuit or to control other factors such as other components, some devices in the circuit. The term is often used, for example, for a specialized integrated circuit that controls high-power switches in switched-mode power converters. An amplifier can also be considered a driver for loudspeakers, or a voltage regulator that keeps an attached component operating within a broad range of input voltages. Hence, there is a need to isolate the driver from the main body due to the safety concern of the user.
[0009] Also, some low cost conventional LED street/Flood light use plastic body and simply put the aluminium or metal plate inside and then mount the MCPCB on these plates to work as heat sink. These metal plates are inside the plastic cover. There is air gap between the metal
plate and the plastic outer body. This air gap works as an insulation and resist the heat transfer to the outer plastic body. Therefore, the conventional light uses an inefficient way of heat management.
[0010] Moreover, the conventional outdoor light has rough surface finishing, low production efficiency, complex in design, high waste & high labour cost. The above-mentioned are the disadvantage of metal type flood light & street light during casting & production.
[0011] In addition, complex & feature based design are not feasible with metal type street/flood light, also it has glass or optics-based diffuser which can break & also relatively hazardous to nature.
[0012] Hence, there is a need of an outdoor LED light that overcomes all the problem associated with the conventional outdoor light.
[0013] In view of the above, there is a need of an outdoor light which uses the technique such as insert moulding so that there is no air gap between the plastic body and the internal heat sink and thus reduce the thermal resistance between the LED and the outer heat dissipating surface.
[0014] Moreover, there is also a need of an outdoor LED light having a structure that is simpler and more inexpensive to make, and which can easily be attached to the lamp post to eliminate the existing above-mentioned problems.

[0052] Both of the outdoor LED light (streetlight and flood light) comprises the same components. The outdoor LED light 100 of the present disclosure comprises a base body 102 having an opening to establish an electric connection. The base body 102 is made of plastic and the heat sink 104 made of aluminium or other metal that is placed inside the base body 102 through insert moulding technique and then MCPCB 106 is mounted on the base body 102. Precisely, the heat sink 104 is placed inside the base body 102. Hence, there is no air gap between the heat sink 104 and the plastic base body 102 and thus reduces the thermal resistance between the LED and the outer heat dissipating surface.
[0053] The MCPCB 106 comprises a plurality of LED 108 that are being attached to the top of the MCPCB 106.
[0054] Traditionally, the MCPCB is mounted on the heat sink body by using many numbers of screws on the MCPCB. In direct screw mounting
system, die-electric break of MCPCB is also an issue many times, if by chance worker on line tight the screw with high force directly on the MCPCB then, there is great chances of scratch over MCPCB, in long term which may leads to die-electric break down.
[0055] But, in the present disclosure, the MCPCB 106 is pressed uniformly on all edges via the reflector 110 having a hole 112 at the centre to accommodate the MCPCB 106 effectively. This gives uniform pressure on the MCPCB 106 and the heat sink body 104 and also avoid use of extra screws which lead to improvement of heat management and also reduce extra process and materials.
[0056] The present disclosure has very unique concept of MCPCB holding & pressing mechanism in each (FL/SL), as in LED light technology, as heat management is very crucial points. In the proposed concept, MCPCB 106 is sandwiched in between the base body 102 & plastic reflector 110 on defined position & these two items were holdup with the help of metal screw.
[0057] It further provides a child PCB 122 that is hold up inside the base body 102 with the help of stand placed inside the first slot 124 provided inside the insert moulded plastic base body 102, later this will be covered up with plastic reflector 110 as clearly shown in the fig.1. The child PCB 122 is also referred as input safety circuit. It further provides two options, first one is with WWR & MOV which can meeting safety norms up to 4KV/440V & second one is with WWR/ELCO which can meet safety norms up to 3KV to 8KV and high input voltage of up to 500V.
[0058] A second slot 126 is also provided inside the base body 102 to hold up the nut of PG7 gland 128 & then to directly fit the main body of PG7/PG9/M12 type of gland 128 with the nut part. In the said second slot 126, a stand is provided to hold the cable/wire in straight and stress free
condition with the water proof gland to help in improving water sealing capability.
[0059] Moreover, the base body 102 has an external fencing (RED highlighted) 102a clearly shown in FIG.2a that surrounds the periphery of the base body 102 to protect high pressure water to enter lamp body directly, which is designed to use as safe guard to electronics items.
[0060] The said base body 102 also has an internal fencing (blue highlighted) 102b clearly shown in FIG.2b over which the silicone gasket 116 is pressed that is used for tight sealing between the base body 102 and the diffusor 114.
[0061] A plurality of holes 132 are provided in between the external fencing and the internal fencing at the periphery of the said base body 102 above the sealing gasket 116 {green highlighted}. The sealing gasket 116 has unique design for preventing flow of water inside outdoor LED light to protect electronics items from failure. The plurality of holes 132 provided all around the sealing gasket 116 to protect the main electronics area from water seepage inside the outdoor LED light. The said sealing gasket 116 is made of silicone/soft material that block the area for any kind of gas/liquid to flow inside the luminaire.
[0062] The base body 102 also has a black cover 102c shown in FIG.2c placed at the outer-edges of the base body 102 to cover up the unwanted parts that are visible from outside. It also depicts the plurality of holes 132 provided at the periphery of the said base body 102 above the sealing gasket 116 that helps in easy removal of the water stored inside the light.
[0063] A special shaped diffuser 114 has been locked with the base body 102 through the plurality of metal screw provided on the back side of the base body 102 and it will fit with the fixture without any use of glue. In addition, the diffusor 114 has bending outward which will protect water
accumulation over outdoor LED light directly, it only has purpose to reduce the pressure of high flow water to stable water & then water will exit out from drain provided inside green highlighted area.
[0064] FIG.3 illustrates an exploded rear view of the outdoor LED light 100 specifically floodlight in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. It clearly illustrates all the components present inside the outdoor LED streetlight but from the back side of the said light. The components are duly defined by the same reference numerals that are duly mentioned while explaining the front view of the said outdoor LED streetlight.
[0065] FIG.4 illustrates an exploded front view of the outdoor LED light 100 specifically street light in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The components of the outdoor LED floodlight are quite similar to the components of the outdoor LED streetlight. The only difference is in the configuration of the components.

It clearly illustrates all the components present inside the outdoor LED flood light but from the back side of the said light. The components are duly defined by the same reference numerals that are duly mentioned while explaining the front view of the said outdoor LED flood light.
[0067] FIG.6 illustrates the assembling of the various components present inside the outdoor LED light either the streetlight or the floodlight.
[0068] During assembly of the various components present inside the outdoor LED light.
[0069] At step 602, fixing child PCB 122 on the first slot 124 provided on the base body 102 & MCPCB 106 inside the base body 102 with the help of reflector 110 & metal screw.
[0070] Then, At step 604, fixing the PG7 gland 128 on the second slot 126 provided on the base body 102 along with cable wire duly insert in the cable stand.
[0071] At step 606, attaching the reflector 110 to the base body 102 through the plurality of screws.
[0072] At step 608, mounting silicone gasket 116 on the base body 102, after fixing gasket 116 on defined position, it will be pressed with the diffuser 114 which will give enough compression so that water seepage will be negligible.
[0073] At step 610, attaching the diffusor 114 to the base body 102 through the plurality of screws inserted at the back of the base body 102.
