Title: Anti Pollution Helmets for Two wheeler Commuters
Field of Invention: Engineering
Type: Product Patent
Background: As a citizen of world, it is the responsibility of every engineer to create solution to some of the raging problems faced by humanity. One such issue which poses a grave threat to the health of mankind is Environmental Pollution. Of the several of environmental pollution, the one which affects the human health is Air pollution. Air pollution is mainly due to two/ four wheeler emissions. Most of the commuters suffer from respiratory diseases for example asthma, chronic bronchitis, lung irritation, impaired lung function etc.
Invention: Ordinary helmets are not enough to protect human respiratory system from dangerous gases in vehicular emissions. The present invention gives the new design and working model of commuter helmets. It is free from air pollution, keeping the standards of safety intact. The invention is to incorporate replaceable cartridges of pollution filters into the helmet design.
Brief Description of Drawing: In the design of the Helmet following changes are incorporated-
• Modification of the front end of the Helmet to make Air Vents. Fig-
• Making cartridges which include assembly for the SPM Filter and the Active chemical layer. Fig-
• Designing slots for cartridges which can easily be replaced upon exhaustion of Active Chemical layer. Fig-
• Designing exhaust vents fro exhaled air to exit
• Develop a way to prevent leakage of polluted air into the helmet without passing over the Active Chemical Layer or SPM filters. Fig-
The activated carbon based chemical layer used has surface area of 1100 m2/ em. which gives high degree of porosity to it. The chemical treatment of the same is again used to enhance the absorbing properties of the material.
Detail Description: The invention is based on the following mechanisms -
• Reduction of Particulate Matter (PM), Suspended PM (SMP), and Residual SMP
(RSPM) entering the respiratory tract
Claims:
• It protect human respiratory system from diseases
• The filter cartridges are replicable and easily available
• Helmet design is simple to incorporate the filter in it.
