Automatic Postal Depositing System – Kiosk

Abstract: Automatic Postal Depositing System – KIOSK The service and use of postal department is inevitable one in all our daily life. In India, there are 1,56,721 post offices situated various parts of the country to provide postal service. It is the largest postal network in the world and the number of employees are approximately 1,70,942. They are processing thousands of letters in each post office in different types of services. In the year 2020-21 alone almost 500 crore packets are processed. In an average 40 to 50 crore letters are processed in Speed Post alone and its revenue is roughly estimated as 2000 crore. People in India prefer the Indian Postal Service because their service is excellent and they have larger network to deliver the documents and goods. In addition the cost the service is so reasonable when compared to other private service providers such as courier service. Though there are huge number of advantages, the following are the limitation to be addressed to increase the productivity of the Indian Postal Service, are ; 1. Time Limit : They offer service upto 4 PM 2. Payment of Money : Normally they collect amount 3. Security – Owner identification To overcome the above drawbacks a new model is proposed. In the proposed model, similar to the ATM in banking system, post office work for 24 hours and all the 365 days. In the proposed model, • First a person enters into the KIOSK and inserts the letter and check the weight. • After that select the type of service they want such as speed post, register post, register parcel etc. Based on the selection amount will be displayed. • The amount can be paid using the QR code. • Once the payment is success, immediately we will get the receipt. • To provide more security, photo of the person will be stored. • If everything is success, the document will be automatically deposited in the box. Once the model is implemented in all the post offices in cities, all of us can use the postal service at any time ( 24 hours ) and all the days (365 days ) without any holiday. Finally the productivity of the Indian Postal Service will increase in larger volume with respect to money and documents.
