Abstract: Provided is a communication system capable of suppressing excessive power consumption in a backhaul. The communication system is provided with: at least one access device which accepts access from a communication terminal; at least one packet transfer device for transferring packets through the access device; a first management device for controlling an operation mode relating to the power consumption of the access device; and a second management device for controlling an operation mode relating to the power consumption of the packet transfer device on the basis of the change of the operation mode relating to the power consumption of the access device.

A communication system, comprising: an access apparatus(es) accessed by communication t e r m i n a l s ; a packet forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets via the access apparatus(es); a f i r s t management a p p a r a t u s c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes relating to energy consumption of the access apparatus(es); and a second management a p p a r a t u s c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes relating to energy consumption of t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) based on a change of the operation modes r e l a t i n g t o the energy consumption of t h e access apparatus(es).

The communication system according t o c l a i m 1, wherein t h e f i r s t management apparatus comprises: means for determining whether t o change t h e operation modes relating to the energy consumption of the access apparatus(es) based o n a s t a t e o f t h e access apparatus(es); means for changing t h e operation modes relating to the energy consumption of t h e access apparatus(es) in accordance with the determination; and means for n o t i f y i n g t h e second management apparatus o f an access apparatus(es) that has undergone a change of t h e operation modes r e l a t i n g to the energy consumption.

The communication system according to claim 2, wherein t h e second management a p p a r a t u s c o m p r i s e s : means for determining a packet forwarding apparatus(es) that is caused to undergo a change of the operation modes relating t o the energy consumption based on a n a c c e s s apparatus(es) t h a t t h e second management apparatus has been n o t i f i e d of by t h e f i r s t management apparatus and t h a t has undergone a change o f t h e operation modes relating to the energy consumption; and means f o r changing t h e operation modes r e l a t i n g t o the energy consumption of the packet forwarding apparatus(es) in accordance with the determination.
4. The communication system according to any o n e o f claims 1 to wherein the second management apparatus f u r t h e r comprises range determination means for determining an operation mode change 5 range of t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) that is caused to undergo the operation modes.

A f i r s t management a p p a r a t u s , arranged in a communication system comprising an access apparatus(es) accessed by communication terminals and a packet forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets via t h e access 5 apparatus(es), and c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of the access apparatus(es), and causing a second management a p p a r a t u s t o c o n t r o l operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption o f t h e packet forwarding 10 apparatus(es) based on a change o f t h e o p e r a t i o n modes r e l a t i n g to the energy consumption of the access apparatus(es).

A second management a p p a r a t u s , arranged i n a communication system comprising an access apparatus(es) accessed by communication t e r m i n a l s , a packet forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets v i a t h e access 5 apparatus(es), and a f i r s t management a p p a r a t u s c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of the access apparatus(es), and c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of the packet forwarding apparatus(es) based on a change o f t h e operation modes r e l a t i n g to t h e energy consumption of the access apparatus.

The second management a p p a r a t u s a c c o r d i n g t o claim 6, comprising: means f o r d e t e r m i n i n g a packet forwarding apparatus(es) t h a t i s caused to undergo a change of t h e operation modes relating to the 5 energy consumption based on an access apparatus(es) that the.second management apparatus has been n o t i f i e d of by the f i r s t management apparatus and t h a t has undergone a change of t h e operation modes relating t o t h e energy consumption; and means f o r changing the operation modes r e l a t i n g to the energy consumption o f t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) in accordance with t h e determination.
8. The second management a p p a r a t u s a c c o r d i n g t o c l a i m 6 or 7, f u r t h e r comprising: range determination means f o r determining an operation mode change range o f t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) t h a t i s caused to undergo the operation modes.

A control method o f o p e r a t i o n modes o f a n a c c e s s apparatus(es) accessed by communication terminals and of a packet forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets via t h e access apparatus(es) included in a communication s y s t e m , t h e c o n t r o l method comprising s t e p s of: controlling o p e r a t i o n modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of the access apparatus(es); and controlling operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of the packet forwarding apparatus(es) based on a change of t h e operation modes r e l a t i n g to t h e energy consumption of t h e a c c e s s apparatus(es).

A program, causing a computer managing an access apparatus(es) accessed by communication terminals and a packet forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets via the access apparatus(es) included i n a communication system to execute processes o f : controlling operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of the access apparatus(es); and controlling o p e r a t i o n modes relating to energy consumption of the packet forwarding apparatus(es) based on a change of t h e operation modes r e l a t i n g t o t h e energy consumption o f the access apparatus(es).
WE CLAIM:
1. A communication system, comprising:
an access apparatus(es) accessed by communication t e r m i n a l s ;
a packet forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets via the
access apparatus(es);
a f i r s t management a p p a r a t u s c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes
relating to energy consumption of the access apparatus(es); and
a second management a p p a r a t u s c o n t r o l l i n g operation modes
relating to energy consumption of t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es)
based on a change of the operation modes r e l a t i n g t o the energy
consumption of t h e access apparatus(es).
2. The communication system according t o c l a i m 1,
wherein t h e f i r s t management apparatus comprises:
means for determining whether t o change t h e operation modes
relating to the energy consumption of the access apparatus(es) based
o n a s t a t e o f t h e access apparatus(es);
means for changing t h e operation modes relating to the energy
consumption of t h e access apparatus(es) in accordance with the
determination; and
means for n o t i f y i n g t h e second management apparatus o f an
access apparatus(es) that has undergone a change of t h e operation
modes r e l a t i n g to the energy consumption.
3. The communication system according to claim 2,
wherein t h e second management a p p a r a t u s c o m p r i s e s :
means for determining a packet forwarding apparatus(es) that is
caused to undergo a change of the operation modes relating t o the
energy consumption based on a n a c c e s s apparatus(es) t h a t t h e second
management apparatus has been n o t i f i e d of by t h e f i r s t management
apparatus and t h a t has undergone a change o f t h e operation modes
relating to the energy consumption; and
means f o r changing t h e operation modes r e l a t i n g t o the energy
consumption of the packet forwarding apparatus(es) in accordance
with the determination.
4. The communication system according to any o n e o f claims 1 to
wherein the second management apparatus f u r t h e r comprises
range determination means for determining an operation mode change
5 range of t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) that is caused to undergo
the operation modes.

caused to undergo a change of t h e operation modes relating to the

management apparatus has been n o t i f i e d of by the f i r s t management
apparatus and t h a t has undergone a change of t h e operation modes
relating t o t h e energy consumption; and
means f o r changing the operation modes r e l a t i n g to the energy
consumption o f t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) in accordance
with t h e determination.
8. The second management a p p a r a t u s a c c o r d i n g t o c l a i m 6 or 7,
f u r t h e r comprising:
range determination means f o r determining an operation mode
change range o f t h e packet forwarding apparatus(es) t h a t i s caused to
undergo the operation modes.
9. A control method o f o p e r a t i o n modes o f a n a c c e s s apparatus(es)
accessed by communication terminals and of a packet forwarding
apparatus(es) forwarding packets via t h e access apparatus(es) included
in a communication s y s t e m , t h e c o n t r o l method comprising s t e p s of:
controlling o p e r a t i o n modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of
the access apparatus(es); and
controlling operation modes r e l a t i n g to energy consumption of
the packet forwarding apparatus(es) based on a change of t h e operation
modes r e l a t i n g to t h e energy consumption of t h e a c c e s s apparatus(es).

forwarding apparatus(es) forwarding packets via the access
