Abstract: Cholesterol is an important biological target for management of metabolic disorders. The present disclosure provides a composition comprising amla extract and sesamin extract and a method for the preparation of the combination, which at particular w/w ratios, inhibits intracellular cholesterol production.

Specification

Claims:1. A composition comprising:
a. amla extract; and
b. sesamin extract,
wherein amla extract to sesamin extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.25-1:4.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein amla extract to sesamin extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.25-1:1.5.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein amla extract to sesamin extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range 1:0.25-1:1.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein amla extract to sesamin extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.25-1:0.66.
5. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein amla extract to sesamin extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:0.25.
6. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein amla extract has tannins having weight percentage in the range of 30-40%.
7. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein sesamin extract has sesamin complex having weight percentage in the range of 65-75%.
8. The composition as claimed in claim 1, further comprising suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients.
9. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in claim 1, said method comprising steps of:
a. obtaining amla extract;
b. obtaining sesamin extract; and
c. contacting said extracts to obtain a composition.
10. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in claim 9, said method comprising steps of:
a. obtaining amla extract;
b. obtaining sesamin extract;
c. obtaining suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients; and
d. contacting said extracts, suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients to obtain a composition.
11. A method of inhibiting intracellular cholesterol levels, said method comprising steps of:
a. obtaining a composition as claimed in claim 1 or claim 9; and
b. contacting said composition with a cell capable of producing cholesterol,
wherein said method inhibits intracellular cholesterol levels.
