Abstract: Cholesterol is one of the biomarkers that is associated with cardiovascular diseases and hence an important biological target for management of metabolic disorders. The present disclosure provides a composition comprising pomegranate extract and bilberry extract, which at particular w/w ratios, inhibits intracellular cholesterol production.
Claims:1. A composition comprising:
a. pomegranate extract; and
b. bilberry extract,
wherein pomegranate extract to bilberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is in the range of 1:0.25-1:1.5.
2. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pomegranate extract comprises polyphenols not less than 13%.
3. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said bilberry extract comprises anthocyanidins not less than 25%.
4. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein pomegranate extract to bilberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:0.25.
5. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein pomegranate extract to bilberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:0.6.
6. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein pomegranate extract to bilberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:1.
7. The composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein pomegranate extract to bilberry extract w/w ratio in said composition is 1:1.5.
8. The composition as claimed in claim 1, further comprising suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients.
9. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in claim 1, said method comprising:
a. obtaining pomegranate extract;
b. obtaining bilberry extract; and
c. contacting said extracts to obtain a composition.
10. A method of preparing a composition as claimed in claim 8, said method comprising:
a. obtaining pomegranate extract;
b. obtaining bilberry extract;
c. obtaining suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients; and
d. contacting said extracts and suitable carriers, diluents, and excipients to obtain a composition.
11. A method of inhibiting intracellular cholesterol levels, said method comprising:
a. obtaining a composition as claimed in claim 1 or claim 8; and
b. contacting said composition with a cell capable of producing cholesterol,
wherein said method inhibits intracellular cholesterol levels.
