Abstract: The subject matter described herein relates to a method for printing a pattern onto surface of one or more pencils. The method comprises applying a primer coating onto the surface of the one or more pencils. Further, the method includes placing a supporting film (110) carrying a pattern to be printed, in a tank (102) containing water. After placing the supporting film (110) in the tank (102), an activating solvent may be applied to the supporting film (110). Upon applying the activating solvent, the one or more pencils are immersed through the pattern in the water contained in the tank (102). The immersing of the one or more pencils through the pattern allows the pattern to be transferred onto the surface of the one or more pencils to realize printing of the one or more pencils.
Claims:1. A method for printing a pattern on one or more pencils, comprising:
applying a primer coating onto surface of the one or more pencils;
placing a supporting film (110) carrying the pattern to be printed in a tank (102) containing water;
applying an activating solvent on the supporting film (110), wherein the activating solvent dissolves the supporting film (110) in the water allowing the pattern to float on surface of the water in the tank (102); and
immersing the one or more pencils through the pattern in the tank (102) to transfer the pattern on the surface of the one or more pencils.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
removing residues of the supporting film (110) from one or more pencils;
drying the one or more pencils to remove excess water; and
applying a clear coating on the surface of one or more pencils.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one or more pencils are at least one of wooden pencils, plastic pencils, and wood plastic composite pencils.
4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein applying the primer coating comprises applying four coats of nitro cellulose (NC) primer coating using a dipping coat method.
5. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein applying the clear coating comprises applying two coats of nitro cellulose (NC) clear coating using the dipping coat method.
6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the supporting film (110) is a water soluble poly-vinyl alcohol (PVA) film.
7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the activating solvent is an aromatic hydrocarbon, such as toluene, xylene, cyclohexane, or ethylbenzene, used alone or in combination thereof.
8. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pattern is gravure-printed on the supporting film (110).
9. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the immersing comprises immersing the one or more pencils at an angle with in range of zero degree to ninety degree with respect to the pattern in the tank (102).
10. A system for printing a pattern on one or more pencils, comprising:
a tank (102) containing water, wherein a supporting film (110) carrying the pattern to be printed, is placed on surface of the water in the tank (102);
an applicator (104) for applying an activating solvent on the supporting film (110), wherein the activating solvent dissolves the supporting film (110) in the water allowing the pattern to float on the surface of the water in the tank (102); and
an immersing frame for immersing the one or more pencils through the pattern in the tank (102) to allow transfer of the pattern on the surface of the one or more pencils.
11. The system as claimed in claim 10, wherein the immersing frame has a plurality of slots for holding the one or more pencils.
12. The system as claimed in claim 10, wherein temperature of water in the tank (102) is 35 degree Celsius.
13. The system as claimed in claim 10, wherein the supporting film (110) is a water soluble poly-vinyl alcohol (PVA) film.
14. The system as claimed in claim 10, wherein the activating solvent is an aromatic hydrocarbon, such as toluene, xylene, cyclohexane, or ethylbenzene, used alone or in combination thereof.
15. The system as claimed in claim 10, wherein the pattern is gravure-printed on the supporting film (110).
