Abstract: The present subject matter provides a method for estimating boric acid in a matrix. The method comprises contacting the matrix with a non-polar organic solvent to form a first suspension, separating a residue and a supernatant from the first suspension, dissolving the residue in an acid to form an aqueous solution, contacting the aqueous solution with the non-polar organic solvent to form a second suspension, separating an aqueous layer and an organic layer from the second suspension, and estimating boric acid in the aqueous layer.
