FIXTURE FOR SETTING OF FLOW METERS

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure, to a fixture for flow meter of a 20 torch welding machine for easing up maintenance and replacement in the 20-torch machine.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] A 20-torch welding machine is one of the most highly productive machines in a panel shop. This machine is generally used for manufacturing of the panel for subcritical and supercritical boilers. As the name of the machine indicates, it has 20 torches to carry out the welding and each torch has an individual sensor and flow meter.
[0004] The flow meter needs regular time frame maintenance and replacement in case of any damage to the flow meter. In case of any damage to the flow meter, an operator or a maintenance staff is forced to buy the spares from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vendor. Such spares are not only costly when purchased from OEM vendor but the OEM vendor takes its own time to get the flow meter. This will lead the welding machine to be idle for a longer period of time. In an example, the cost of the one flow meter is approximately 45000 Indian National Rupees (INR).
[0005] Additionally, practical difficulties are also experienced due to the geometrical representation of the existing flow meter. For instance, during the continuous operation of the welding machine, the plastic part of the flow meter is getting damaged which calls for the frequent replacement of the flow meter.
[0006] It is therefore needed in the state of the art to have a new mechanism for the setting of flow meters with eased up maintenance and replacement in the 20 torch welding machines.
OBJECTS OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0007] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfy, are listed hereinbelow.
[0008] It is a general object of the present disclosure to provide a fixture for the flow meter to ensure the availability or non-dependency on the OEM vendor.
[0009] It is another object of the present disclosure to provide a fixture for the flow meter, wherein the fixture includes sitting arrangements, a hole for the inlet line and a U-type shape for outlet line.
[0010] It is another object of the present disclosure to provide a fixture for the flow meter so as to ensure the eased-up maintenance and replacements of the flow meter. The fixture clearly defines the inlet and outlet of gas flow.
[0011] It is another object of the present disclosure to provide a fixture which is made up of the copper material and is with sitting arrangement for the flow meter.
SUMMARY
[0012] This summary is provided to introduce concepts related to a fixture for flow meter assembly in 20 torch welding machine. The concepts are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter.
[0013] In an embodiment, the present disclosure relates to a fixture for the setting of flow meters in a 20-torch welding machine. The fixture includes a circular hole (01) drilled according to an outer surface of a forged body of a flow meter neighboring an outlet hose connection nut, so as to support and align flow meter horizontally; and U-shaped or acicular slots formed in such a way that the slots serve the purpose of a base for an inlet gas hose connection nut to rest upon and align the flow meter vertically.
[0014] In an aspect, the fixture further includes a C-bend to acting a female attachment part while attaching a flow meter holder to a machine frame.
[0015] The fixture of the present disclosure eliminates the purchase of costly flow meter from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) vendor, time reduction in getting the spares from OEM, reduction in maintenance time and smooth handling during the breakdown.
[0016] Various objects, features, aspects, and advantages of the inventive subject matter will become more apparent from the following detailed description of preferred embodiments, along with the accompanying drawing figures in which like numerals represent like components.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0017] The illustrated embodiments of the subject matter will be best understood by reference to the drawings, wherein like parts are designated by like numerals throughout. The following description is intended only by way of example, and simply illustrates certain selected embodiments of apparatuses, systems, and methods that are consistent with the subject matter as claimed herein, wherein:
[0018] FIG. 1 illustrates a fixture for flow meter in a 20-torch welding machine with three parts, in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0019] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the disclosure depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
[0020] As used in the description herein and throughout the claims that follow, the meaning of “a,” “an,” and “the” includes plural reference unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Also, as used in the description herein, the meaning of “in” includes “in” and “on” unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
[0021] A typical 20-torch welding machine is used in the formation of the water wall panel for the boiler. These welding machines are highly efficient and productive machines. In these welding machines, the flow meter is a part which regulates the proper and desired gas flow to each of the 20-torches. Accordingly, and as mentioned above, each torch has an individual sensor and flow meter. The flow meter needs regular time frame maintenance and replacement in case of any damage to the flow meter. In case of any damage to the flow meter, the sensors are required to be distributed as per the layout. Also, in the existing flow meter, inlet and outlet connections of the flow meter are not visible to the operator or maintenance staff. With such hindrance to the visibility of the inlet and outlet connection, in case of gas flow is not properly controlled, it can lead to the porosity or some other kind of weld defects in the weldment.
[0022] To this, the present disclosure proposes a fixture that will hold the flow meter properly and can be fitted easily. Also, with the proposed fixture, outlet and inlet connections can be easily identified by the operator or maintenance staff. Furthermore, spares for said proposed fixture, flow meters are easily available in Indian market in very less price compare to the OEM vendor. Accordingly, with the proposed fixture, any kind of replacement can be done easily without disturbance of the sensor. Accordingly, one by one flow meter can be taken up for replacement and maintenance
[0023] Referring now to FIG. 1, a fixture for flow meter in a 20-torch welding machine is shown in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. In FIG. 1, a circular hole 01 is drilled according to an outer surface of a forged body of a flow meter neighboring an outlet hose connection nut, so as to support and align flow meter horizontally. Further, U-shaped or acicular slots 02 are formed in such a way that these slots 02 serve the purpose of a base for an inlet gas hose connection nut to rest upon and align the flow meter vertically. The fixture further includes a C-bend 03 which acts a female attachment part while attaching a flow meter holder to a machine frame.
[0024] Thus, the fixture proposed herein clearly defines the inlet and outlet of gas flow. The fixture also results in significant material cost, reduction in cycle time of purchasing the spares, reduction in cycle time for carrying out the maintenance work, and non-dependency on the OEM vendor. Further, spares for the proposed fixture can be made available at cheaper price in the Indian market.
