Abstract: not available
WE CLAIM:
1. A fuel pipe flexible joint for accommodating and absorbing the effects of downward movement of furnace walls due to thermal expansion of boiler, comprising:-
a top sleeve (01) having a pipe collar fixed at one end for connection with the vertical coal piping at its downstream side near the burner assembly;
a middle jacket (02) having a flange at one end for connecting said
top sleeve (01) using a coupling assembly (03) and a rubber gasket, a
bottom seat having a flange at one end for connecting the middle
jacket (02), coupling assembly (03) and rubber gasket and the other
end having a pipe collar for connection with the vertical coal piping
at its upstream side near the burner assembly;
two coupling assemblies (03) comprising of six segments of coupling
parts each, for coupling said top sleeve (01) with said middle jacket (02)
and said bottom seat with said middle jacket (02);
two rubber gaskets one for each coupling assembly (03) being used with said coupling assembly (03) for coupling said top sleeve (01) with said middle jacket (02) and said bottom seat (07) with said middle jacket (02);
four sets of guiding rods (04) and holders (05) for holding said top sleeve (01) and middle jacket (02) and also for guiding said top sleeve (01) into said middle jacket (02) and to permit lateral deflection; four sets of holding rods (06) and holders for holding said middle jacket (02) and bottom seat (07) in position and to permit any lateral deflection.
2. Fuel pipe flexible joint as claimed in claim 1, forms the assembly, which is mounted in the vertical run of coal piping near the burner assembly.
Fuel pipe flexible joint as claimed in claim 2, wherein the vertical ran of coal piping is used for absorbing the effects of downward movement of furnace walls on the coal piping.
Fuel pipe flexible joint as claim.ed in claim 2, wherein linear movement of the coal pipes during the boiler operation is accommodated.
Fuel pipe flexible joint as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, slides into the middle jacket (02) and accommodates the linear movement of the coal pipes when the furnace walls move downwards due to thermal expansion during the boiler operation.
Fuel pipe flexible joint as claimed in claim 2, wherein relief from excessive loading allows smooth and free tilting of nozzle tips without any overloading in tilting type tangentially fired boilers.
Fuel pipe flexible joint as claimed in claim 2, wherein said bottom seat (07) is made to rest on a structural arrangement in the floor.
8. Fuel pipe flexible joint as claimed in claim 2, wherein said coupling assembly (03) is used with the gasket for connecting said top sleeve (01) with the middle jacket (02) and the middle jacket (02) with the bottom seat (07) to reduce the compressive strain in the gasket, the housing in the coupling segment for the gasket.
