1. A hybrid energy storage device (100), comprising:
a battery pack (102) connected in parallel with a supercapacitor pack (104),
capable of being charged simultaneously by an external power source (106),
wherein the battery pack (102) is charged at a high current up to a constant
charge phase to store charge up to a predefined level of State of Charge (SoC) of the
battery pack (102), and the supercapacitor pack (104) is charged to store charge up to a
remaining level of SoC of the battery pack (102), enabling fast charging of the hybrid
energy storage device (100).
2. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a charge
controller (108) is connected with the battery pack (102) and the supercapacitor pack
(104) for regulating input current for charging the battery pack (102) till the predefined
level of SoC and for charging the supercapacitor pack (104) till the remaining level of SoC.
3. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the hybrid
energy storage device (100) is utilized as a power source in a first electric aircraft.
4. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein the external
power source (106) is a DC source disposed in a second electric aircraft for charging
the hybrid energy storage device (100) of the first electric aircraft during a flight.
5. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 4, wherein the external
power source (106) includes one or more of a solid-state battery fabricated using sulfurbased electrodes and a pack of lithium ion capacitors.
6. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the battery pack
(102) includes one or more of a metal-sulfur battery, a metal-ion battery, and a metalair battery, and wherein the battery pack (102) utilises one of a solid, inorganic, and an
organic electrolyte.7. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the battery pack
(102) and the supercapacitor pack (104) are connected in a semi-active topology.
8. The hybrid energy storage device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the predefined
level of SoC of the battery pack (102) range from 50%- 60% and the remaining level
of SoC of the battery pack (102) range from 40%-50%
