Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of cash counting machine. More specifically the present
invention is directed towards improved cash counting machine.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIO5 N
A currency-counting machine or cash counting machine is a machine that counts money either
stacks of banknotes or loose collections of coins. Such counters may be purely mechanical or use
electronic components. The machines typically provide a total count of all money or count of
specific batch sizes for wrapping and storage. Currency counters are commonly used in vending
10 machines to determine what amount of money has been deposited by customers.
Reference: Wikipedia [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency-counting_machine]
Counting currency notes is a general practice for bankers and majority of businessmen. Hence a
banknote counter is an indispensable tool for each desk counter in a bank and is a usual view for
those visiting a bank while drawing or disposing the banknotes. For bankers, the banknote counter
15 should provide high efficient counting function in addition to the authentication function for
checking the originality of banknote.
Several banknote counting machines have been developed since they are highly needed in the
banking business or trading, many new types are available in the market and majority of the
machines are provided with banknote authentication function for finding out the forged or fake
20 banknotes. In addition to the authentication function, the counting speed is also a must for the
inventor to take account of while designing the banknote counting machine.
Since many machines are available but none of the available machines has the feature of recording
the details of the customer to whom the cash is being given or from whom the particular cash has
been taken along with the details of the banker who is doing all this transaction. Sometimes, even
25 due to some technical faults in detecting system for fake currency notes, even such cash counting
machines dispense fake notes and same notes are given to customer unknowingly. Once the
customer leaves the counter, no one takes the responsibility of that fake note and it leads to
harassment of the customer and bank staff both.
3
So the inventors of the present invention have developed an improved cash counting machine that
records the customer details, currency details and details of the bank personnel/cashier
simultaneously during a transaction.
Problems in existing cash counting machines
Fake Currency Notes pose a significant threat to India’s economic and monetary stability as we5 ll
as its security outlook. Fake currency reduces the value of real money and results in inflation by
artificially increasing the money supply.
The problem with existing cash counting machines is that the sometime even having fake note
detector system in cash counting machine, machine dispenses fake notes due to technical error and
10 same notes are given to customer knowingly or unknowingly.
There is no such cash counting machine available that can keep the record of the customer details,
currency details and details of the bank personnel/cashier simultaneously during the transaction.
Innovative approach proposed by the inventor
The present invention provides an easy and simple mechanism for keeping the record of the
15 customer details, currency details and details of the bank personnel/cashier simultaneously during
the transaction. The inventors have attached a telescopic adjustable camera with LED/LASER and
a biometric thumb impression sensor that helps capturing the details of the customer and that of
the banker. Using this system in the machine, a transparent cash counting and currency exchange
system is developed between customer and bank and if any problem occurs the details of the
20 transaction having customer details and bank personnel details can be easily tracked.

DETAILED/LASER DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The following description is of the best-contemplated mode of carrying out the invention.
The description is made for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention and
should not be taken in a limiting sense.
5
The present invention discloses an improved cash counting machine that is very efficient and easy
to use.
The improved cash counting machine consists of Camera (2) and a control panel (5) on which
different switches are fixed to control the camera (2). Camera (2) is fixed on the top of the cash
10 counting machine and can be adjusted according to the height of the person. It is provided with a
telescopic rod (1) for height adjustment, LED/LASER (3) for proper alignment of camera for
capturing the image of the person, and a helical wire (4) for adjustment of camera (2). An air
compressor (13) is used for movement of the telescopic rod (1) of the camera (2).
Control panel (5) is provided to control the functioning of camera (2). Control Panel (5) consists
15 of a power On/Off Switch (6) for switching the camera (2). Rod up switch (7) and rod down switch
(8) for adjusting the height of the camera (2). A camera rotation switch (9) in form of joystick is
also provided on the control panel (5) for rotating the camera (2) up to 180° for which a motor (13)
is fixed. Biometric finger scanner (11) is attached to the control panel (2) for scanning the finger
print of customer or bank personnel. LED/LASER (3) of the camera (2) is switched on by a
20 LED/LASER switch (10).
Control Panel (5) also contains a Hard disk (20) for storage of data i.e. customer details or currency
details etc. An image processing module (19) is also provided for capturing the currency details.
AC supply (14) for giving power to control panel and DC supply (15) for operating the camera.
Two USB slots (16and 17) are provided for updating the firmware of the machine. A networking
25 hub (18) is also fixed for connecting this machine with computer system.
Working of the present invention:
At the time of exchange of the currency by the bank, improved cash counting machine works as
follows for each transaction done:
30 1- The bank personnel switches on the machine using power on/off switch (6).
9
2- The bank personnel then put his/her finger on the biometric finger scanner (11) and his/her
details are recorded.
3- The customer is made to stand in form of the camera (2) of the cash counting machine.
4- The adjustment of the height of the camera (2) is made through switches (7 and 8) provided
on the control panel (5) of the machine by the bank personnel5 .
5- As the face is detected with the help of LED/LASER (3) mounted on the camera module,
camera (2) takes the photograph of the person.
6- After that the finger print of the customer is taken with the same biometric finger scanner
(11).
10 7- The cash is counted in the cash counting machine. A currency number scanner is already
fitted with this cash counting machine.
8- An image processing module (19) is fitted in the machine for retrieving data from the
currency scanner and storing it in the hard disk (20).
9- Now these three details are stored simultaneously in the hard disk (20) with every
15 transaction done:
 Details of the currency from currency scanner,
 Details of the customer (photograph and finger print) and
 Bank personnel details.
20 Using this system in the machine a transparent cash counting and currency exchange system will
be developed between customer and bank and if any problem occurs later ,then the details of the
transaction having customer details and bank personnel details can be easily tracked.
Novelty
25 The novelty of the present invention lies in developing an improved cash counting machine. The
problem with existing cash counting machine is that the sometime even fake note detector in cash
counting machines fail to detect fake notes due to some error and such erroneous machine
dispenses fake notes and same notes are given to customer unknowingly. After that no one takes
the responsibility of that fake note. Sometimes, the customer may himself may change the original
30 notes with fake notes after leaving the counter and the banker does not have any proof with him
10
that the fake notes being returned by the customer are not dispensed by him. All this leads to
harassment of the customer and bank staff both. Hence, the inventors of the present invention
have developed an improved cash counting machine that is capable of recording the customer
details, currency details and details of the bank personnel/cashier simultaneously in one
transaction. If any problem occurs later on, then the details of the transaction having custome5 r
details and bank personnel details can be easily tracked and it can help in controlling the circulation
of fake currency.
Inventive step
10 To achieve simultaneous recording of customer details, currency details and details of the bank
personnel/cashier during the transaction, the inventors had the three requirements viz a viz
Firstly a picture/ image of the customer standing at the counter, secondly a picture/identification
of the banker carrying out the transaction and thirdly cash counting machine with note image
capturing system to record the currency numbers. Therefore, they have mounted a camera on the
15 top of the machine with the help of an adjustable rod to focus on the customer. The adjustment
of the height of the camera (2) is made through switches (7 and 8) provided on the control panel
(5) of the machine by the bank personnel. As the face is detected with the help of LED/LASER
(3) mounted on the camera module, camera (2) takes the photograph of the person. After that the
finger print of the customer is taken from the same biometric finger scanner (11).
20 To achieve identification of the banker carrying out the transaction, a finger print scanner is
provided that keeps record of bank personnel.
To keep record the currency numbers, an image processing module (19) is fitted in the machine
for retrieving data from the currency scanner and storing it in the hard disk (20).
Now these three details are stored simultaneously in the hard disk (20) with every transaction done.
25 The inventors have also developed software to interlink the three inputs (i.e. record of customer,
bank personnel and the currency number) simultaneously for each transaction. A database of the
transactions is also maintained for the future use. Complete software and database are linked with
the bank’s computer so that if any problem occurs later on, then the details of the transaction
having customer details and bank personnel details can be easily tracked.
