SUMMARY
There are many types of fences on land to protect any area from intrusions and
provide perimeter security. However, most facilities that have a water front do
not have perimeter security arrangement on water side, thus remain vulnerable
to intrusion and attacks from water side.
This invention is a floating security barrier that serves to act as a floating
security fence on water.
This will stop any boat intruding into the perimeter up to a specified
displacement and speed.
DESCRIPTION
Working
a. The entire assembly serves to stop a boat crossing a perimeter security line like a floating fence.
b. The floats (1) provide buoyancy to the entire systems. The floats are hollow metallic boxes which are fully sealed from all sides.
c. The chain (7) provides tensile strength to the entire system. The chain (7) runs along the entire length of the assembly.

d. The chain (7) passes inside the pipe guide fitted under the float (1). This ensures the non buoyancy chain (7) -is supported at regular intervals by the buoyant floats (1).
e. The float (1) is not allowed to move on the chain (7) by fitting chain lock pin (8) to the pipe guide (5) passing through the chain (7). This is to . ensure that floats (1) are not pushed to one side, which will cause more gaps between floats (1) and will cause the chain (7) to hang lower in these gaps, thereby allowing any boat to cross over it.
f. Vertical pipes (6) are fitted under the floats to hold the ballast (4) at low level in the assembly. This low ballast (4) helps lower centre of gravity, and provide a righting moment in combination with the float (1) when the assembly is tilted to one side.
g. Spikes (3) are fitted to the front of the assembly to damage any boat that tries to force its way through this barrier. These spikes are fitted to the doubler plate (2) which are in turn fitted to the upper side or front side of the float (1). This doubler plate (2) is to ensure distribution of load on float (1) when spike (3) is impacted by any boat.
h. The spikes (3) are fitted at an angle or roughly 20 degree to 70.degree above the horizontal. This ensures that when any boat impacts, the spikes and the float are not pushed down, which will allow the boat to force its way across over it.
i. When the boat impacts the spikes, it will push the spikes upwards, and the entire assembly will rotate when seen in end view. The ballast (4) with ballast lever (6) will be forced to rise up over an arc of a circle. This will cause a righting torque and a couple to be set up between the upward force through the floats (1) and the downward force through the ballast (4). This will make the assembly upright to its original position and resist the boat movement.
j. All spikes is fitted at upward angle to horizontal and perpendicular to the float when seen in top view. Only one of these spikes (9) per float fitted at one end of float is positioned at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to other spikes (3). This spike (9) covers the gap between the floats, so any boat shall not attempt to crossover between the floats (1).
