Mini Automated Machine For Enzyme Mediated Biodiesel Production
Abstract: The invention relates to a mini automated machine for the conversion of oil feedstock to biodiesel using lipase enzyme as catalyst. The main inventive component of the present invention is the reactor and an enzyme cartridge. The reactor is configured to perform neutralization reaction and lipase catalyzed esterification and trans-esterification reactions. The enzyme cartridge stores and release lipase enzyme into the reactor. Storage tanks are configured to the reactor to store and release reactants. After the reaction, the mixture contains fatty acid alkyl esters or biodiesel along with glycerol and other impurities. A separation and washing unit separates the reaction mixture into crude biodiesel and glycerol. A distillation unit is employed which recovers wet methanol and purified biodiesel is obtained as the final output. The invention contains a pumping arrangement, programmable electronic controller and a user interphase.
