FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to field of method of a multifunctional air filter, in particular an air filter impregnated with various compounds that has efficient multifunctional air filtering properties such as absorbing bad odor, Anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and anti¬inflammatory properties, absorbing ammonia and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), etc.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
An air filter is basically a device that comprises of fibrous materials to discard solid particulates such as dust, pollen, mould, and bacteria. Filters containing an absorbent or catalyst such as charcoal may also remove odors, smoke, noxious fumes, organic vapors and the like from air. It is also known to use the activated carbon granules in a variety of structures including packed beds, loaded non-wovens, loaded foams, and bonded adsorbents. Granular adsorbents have been bonded and molded into shapes suitable for filtration of gases and gaseous pollutants. Air filters are used in applications wherein air
quality is important, notably in building ventilation systems, Air Conditioners, refrigerators and in engines.
Usually, an air filter purifies air by filtering dust and odor particles, absorbing polluted indoor air and filtering/purifying the absorbed air, subsequently making it clean and odor free. Further the purified air is released out from the air purifier. Thus, it can be said that the air filter absorbs polluted air from the surrounding, purifies the absorbed air, and finally releases clean air to the outside, hence, purifying the air where the air filter is installed. Therefore, in light of the aforesaid benefits, there exists a need to provide an air filter comprising improved dust-holding capacity, odor removal, resistance to airflow, and possessing antibacterial, anti-hypertension, anti-oxidant qualities with impregnated catechin, copper oxide nano particles and activated carbon.

Solution 1:
Figure 1 illustrates the process of preparation of CU2O Nanoparticles, comprising the steps
of:
a. mixing a binder PVA (5g) in the Demineralized (DM) water (500 ml) to obtain a
solution;
b. heating the mixed solution of step a in DM water at 90°C for dissolving;
c. after cooling, adding 10 grams of copper nitrate (Q1NO3) and 5 grams of sodium
hydroxide (NaOH) to the solution of step b, and stir well;
d. adding 10 grams of ascorbic acid and heating at 100°C while stirring the solution of
step c;
e. Heating the stirring the solution of step d, and holding the same for 15 minutes;
Figure 2 illustrates the process of preparation of solution 2 & 3 and impregnation of felt filter in the solution of activated carbon, comprising of below steps: Solution 2:
a. mixing 10 grams of Catechin powder to 30 ml ethanol and 50 ml DM water to obtain
a Catechin solution;
Solution 3:

Figure 3 illustrates view of the activated carbon fabric filter, wherein said filter comprises of several materials including synthetic mesh, grey non-woven, green non-woven, black non-woven and, each of the material is of a particular length and width and specification. The impregnated felt fabric containing an activated carbon having a strong base such as NaOH with copper oxide nano-particles, catechin, ascorbic acid, etc. Further, the impregnated felt is additionally effective in removing volatile organic substances. The removal of such chemical contaminants result in formation of water soluble salts, which can be readily removed from the replaceable filter element by dipping in hot water, for instance. The replaceable filter element thus treated can be regenerated and is reusable by re-attachment of a strong base.
The removal of alkaline gases results in formation of chloride salts, which are water-soluble and can be readily removed from the filter element by dipping it in hot water, for instance.
The invention related to the process of preparation of multifunctional air filter comprises
of various elements having beneficial properties as mentioned below:
Activated Carbon: The activated carbon is a type of carbon that possess low-volume, small
pores. The activated carbon is used in absorbing ammonia, bad-odors, volatile organic
compounds (VOCs), and oil vapors.
Catechin: Catechin contains antioxidants, beneficial in removing hypertension, exhibits
anti-inflammatory capacities, absorbs bad odor, ammonia, VOCs and is capable of
removing free radicals from the air.
Copper oxide: The copper oxide used in this invention has an antimicrobial and
antibacterial effect.
The binder used in the air filter is preferably PVA based water soluble adhesive. Other
ingredients used are activated carbon powder, copper oxide nanoparticles, catechin, sodium
hydroxide, etc.
Consequently, the performance of the filter is determined by the gas-removal efficiency,
the capacity and the pressure drop (air resistance). The gas-removal efficiency is
determined, along with the absorption capacity, by the quantity of effective active carbon,
and, along with the pressure drop, also by the structure of the filter.
