Real Time Protocol Analysis
Abstract: ABSTRACT A method and a system for real time protocol analysis of data over a network comprises a protocol data unit consisting of data streams with a protocol format, a programmable logic device and a computer running a protocol analyzer program. The logic device is configured to capture and analyze the data streams. The logic device comprises a protocol decoder unit configured to decode the data streams into a protocol data and a raw data, a memory configured to store the protocol data with a timestamp, a data compression module configured to run a compression algorithm to compress the raw data and a data framing unit for encapsulating the compressed raw data and the protocol data into Ethernet packets, which are sent to the computer. The compression of data and the utilization of memory of the computer allow the system to capture the data streams for very long time duration in real time.
