THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES THE INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE
PERFORMED
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION/
CIRCUMSTANCES OF INVENTION:-
The rocking plastic chairs are available in market from many years, but those chairs are never been made in such design that those chairs can be easily stackable. The available plastic chairs are either a full body chair or are available in parts and the person has to assemble the parts and they he can use rocking chair. The applicant being in a business of manufacturing and marketing of plastic moulded furniture, they realised that such rocking chairs are occupying huge spaces at factory and warehouses. Even the distributors and retailers are reluctant to purchase those chairs as regular rocking chairs, occupying more space in their small shops.
Hence, the applicant has decided to create such a design for plastic rocking chair that the same will be easily stackable and can be stored easily in small places.
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION:-
The rocking chair has become standard equipment for consumer households as well as a wide variety of organizations, institutions, and establishments ranging from caterers to schools, spas etc and also for various purposes. The moulded stackable rocking chair is lightweight and inexpensive, easy to move and store, and quite durable for the price.
SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
In a stackable chair system, a plurality of chairs are provided, each chair having a back, a seat, and first and second armrests all integral with one another in an injection-molded thermal plastic construction. Each chair is dimensioned so that the chairs can be stacked on top of one another in nested fashion.
According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a stackable arm chair moulded in a single piece from plastics material, said armchair comprising a seat, a back, front legs, rear legs, and a left arm rest and right arm rest respectively positioned at the corresponding sides of said seat, each of said legs having an outwardly directed channel therein extending along substantially the length thereof and defining rearward and forward edge portions for
each of said legs, the forward edge portion of each of said rear legs and the rearward edge portion of each of said forward legs extending upwardly beyond said seat at opposite sides of said seat to form rearward and forward portions of the corresponding arm rest.
The present invention proposes a construction in which a one-piece, moulded chair may be formed in a manner which will permit close and efficient stacking of a plurality of chairs while, at the same time, enabling such chairs to enjoy all of the advantages of a simple, one-piece moulding which achieves its required strength and rigidity from its configuration and from the contours of the surfaces constituting the chair without the need for reinforcing elements attached to the mouldings and without the need for double thicknesses, reinforcing struts or webs of any kind.
Other less desirable moulded chairs are not stackable chairs at all, but are moulded elements which may be secured together by a structural frame which serves both a reinforcing and a supporting function.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS:-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a stackable rocking chair, constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment;
FIG. 2 is a top partial view of stackable rocking chair;
FIG. 3 is a side partial view of the stackable rocking chair;
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS:-
For the purposes of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the preferred embodiments/best mode illustrated in the drawings and specific language will be used to describe the same. It will nevertheless be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, and such alterations and further modifications in the illustrated device and such further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates are included.
As illustrated in FIG. 1, the present preferred embodiment is a stackable rocking chair for greater versatility.
As more particularly shown in FIG. 1, the stackable rocking chair of the present preferred embodiment is a one-piece, molded plastic, stackable chair, similar in design and construction to those found in common use throughout the country, but incorporating design features
making the chair unique and far more useful and versatile than the standard chair.
The stackable rocking chair of the present preferred embodiment is approximately 660 mm in height, with a width of 440 mm and a depth of 300 mm; a one-piece, injection-molded plastic construction which is weather proof and UV-resistant, sturdy and durable; a rounded or angular chair back with stylish slats, and a contoured, comfortable seat.
FIG. 2 is a top partial view of stackable rocking chair;
FIG. 3 is a side partial view of the stackable rocking chair;
The stackable rocking chair can be produced in a variety of colors and finishes to suit the range of consumer taste and, as shown in FIG. 1, the stackable rocking chair is shaped and dimensioned to be stackable to form a stack for storage and transport.
Preferably the stackable rocking chair is dimensioned so that when stacked, there is gap between the front lower edge of the upper adjacent chair and front upper edge of the lower adjacent chair preferably of about 50 mm.
A stackable rocking chair comprises a plurality of chairs, each chair having a back, a seat, and first and second armrests all integral with one another in an injection-molded thermal plastic construction. Numerous means have been used in the past for linking chairs in rows, but these have been generally clumsy, or expensive, or not very effective.
WE CLAIM:-
1. A stackable rocking chair moulded in a single piece from plastics material, said armchair comprising a seat, a back, front legs, rear legs, and a left arm rest and right arm rest respectively positioned at the corresponding sides of said seat;
2. stackable rocking chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first armrest is a left armrest and the second armrest is a right armrest;
3. A stackable rocking chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein the trough of each arm rest is closed at both ends;
4. A stackable rocking chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein plurality of chairs, each chair having a back, a seat, and left and right armrests all integral with one another in an injection-moulded thermal plastic construction;
5. A stackable rocking chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein each chair comprises a weather-proof UV-resistant material;
6. A stackable rocking chair as claimed in claim 1, wherein said chairs are dimensioned so that whey they are stacked there is a gap between a front of each seat portion of adjacent chairs preferably about 50 mm.
