Abstract: Token displays are ideal for banks, Airports, Public dealing offices, Hospitals, Doctors Clinics, Restaurants and other such places where people have to wait in line for their turn. These systems allow customers to wait without having to stand in line. Once their number is displayed and announcement is heard then only they have to get in line for their turn. Our system is provided with three languages viz. English, Hindi, and Vernacular, for announcement. As the token number announcement is provided, no need to make the customers stand in long queues. They can relax in the lounges till their token number is displayed and announced. This is from customers point of view. In the employee point of view, person sitting in the counter has to shout top of her voice to announce the token number of the customer if she is not provided with a Talking Token Display. Which is embarrassing and tired some process. Our TTD is provided with Key Board, Internal Display, External Display, Control Unit, Power supply Card, Battery backup and Loud Speaker. It is very easy to operate for the person sitting in the counter. When the power is "ON" all zeros will be displayed on both the internal and external display units. If any number is pressed on the keypad ,that particular number will be displayed on the internal display unit and if "*" ID is pressed, then the numbers on the internal display will be announced by the speaker as well as displayed on the external display unit. In our latest development Battery backup and LED lamps are provided.

3) IDEA FOR DEVELOPMENT AND MODIFICATION OF THE PRODUCT:
Waiting in the queue is frustrating. Usually people stand in long queues in sunlight or rain and wasting time when they are waiting for their turn in Banks, Air ports, public dealing offices, Hospitals, Doctor's Clinics and Restaurants. If there is a provision for announcement and display when their turn comes, till that time they can comfortably relax in chairs provided in the lounges while reading their favorite magazine or news paper.
Our product Talking Token Display is designed to facilitate the customers to sit in the lounges.
In rural areas where lot of power cuts are observed, transactions will be delayed because of insufficient lighting at counter and non availability of announcement and display regarding Token number of the customer. To overcome the above troubles, in our latest modification we provided our Talking Token Display with 1.LED Lamp at keypad 2. LED Lamp at Display and 3.Battery Back up to the total system when usual power fails.
We applied for patent of our product Talking Token Display with 3 languages on 15.03.1999, A..No. 328/MAS/99 and re-applying now for the patent after modification as mentioned above .
4) OPERATING PROCEEDURE:
1. The Talking Token Display displays and announces the required token number. The operation of the system is:
2. Using keyboard, select the token number desired to display & announce in three languages. Then the selected token number will appear on internal display.
3. To transfer the number to external display which is visible to customers, press " *". Then the same number will be displayed on external display and announces the same in three languages.
4. To clear the present number press "#"&'1".
5. To Increase the present number by one number. Press "#" & "2".
6. To Decrease the present number by one number, press "#" & "3".

6) TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:
The above figure comprises the circuit diagram of Tallying Token Display. The main parts of the above system are:
1. Power Supply with backup
2. Keyboard
3. Microprocessor or micro-controller
4. Internal Display

8. Voice Synthesizer
9. Audio-Amplifier

Power Supply
Normally any electronic circuitry requires DC voltage for its operation. Generally 230V AC power is available, so a device which is capable of converting 230V AC to required DC is needed to run electronic circuitry. That type of device is known as power supply.
The power supply used in our system is having two DC outputs 5V & 12V. The 5V DC is used for driving microprocessor and its interface circuit, and internal display. The 12V DC is used for driving external display and audio amplifier.
In our latest model Battery Back up is provided which will make our product to be operative even when power fails.
Keyboard
The keyboard used here is 12-key numeric keypad, which is normally used in telephone instruments. Here the keyboard is the input device for the system.
Microprocessor/ Micro-Controller
This will act as CPU for the whole system and performs the following operations:
1. Receiving input from keyboard and converting it to numerical value.
2. Converting the above value into 7-Segment formats and sends it to internal display.
3. Collecting the voice data according to above value from voice memory.
4. Converting the key board signal to proper data to display on external display.
5. Sending voice data to voice synthesizer and the above data to external display.
Internal Display
This module having three 7-segment displays of 0.5". The CPU receives keyboard signal and decodes it into 7-segment format. That data will be transferred to display using a latch.
External Display
This also having three 7-segment displays of 0.5". Here the segments are arranged with LED Lamps. As this display requires high current than internal display we have used proper driver in series with latch. The external display data prepared by CPU is sent to one end of latch. When the CPU recognizes the display command from keyboard, it sends latch enable to latch . Then the token number will be displayed on the external display. The external display units also have a speaker to announce the token number to be displayed on the external display.
Program Memory
The program memory having proper instructions to perform complete operation of the system. The CPU performs all operations according to the instructions in the program memory.
Voice Memory
The voice memory is created for the numbers 0 to 20 and 30, 40, 50 100 in English. 0 to 9 in Telugu and 0 to 9 in Hindi.
Voice Synthesizer
CPU prepares the voice data for the required number in three languages by availing the data in the voice memory. That data is transferred to voice synthesizer through two latches. The Voice synthesizer converts the digital data to analog signal and that signal is applied to an audio amplifier for proper amplification.
Audio Amplifier
The Audio signal comes out of the voice synthesizer is at very low level. As this is not sufficient to drive a high wattage speaker an amplifier is required. The amplifier used in our system uses a comparator and a power amplifier section. That amplified signal is applied through proper cable to a loud speaker which is fitted in external display.
LED Lamps
The counter cabin and external display located hall are provided with LED Lamps for enhanced
lighting when usual power is available and for emergency lighting when normal power is not available . To fulfill this requirement these lamps are connected to battery backup which is incorporated in our design.
