Tamper Proof Active Rfid Tag

Abstract: ABSTRACT An apparatus for securing an item (110) includes a metallic loop (112) adapted to conduct electricity, an RFID tag (108) coupled to the metallic loop (112), the RFID tag (108) including a monitoring module (108A) to monitor a flow of electric current in the metallic loop (112), and an RFID reader (102) configured to raise an alarm on receiving a message based on RF signals from the RFID tag (108) indicating that the metallic loop (112) is being tampered to separate the item (110) and the RFID tag (108). The metallic loop (112) further includes a first end and a second end. The RFID tag further includes a circuit board, the circuit board includes a first spring contact (404A) and a second spring contact (404B). The RFID reader (102) further includes a receive module (102A) configured to receive said message communicated from the RFID tag (108).
