Abstract: This invention relates to Tonsilat composition in Homoeopathy and the process of preparing the same for use in tonsillitis, sore throat and pharyngitis
This invention relates to Tonsilat composition in Homoeopathy and the
process of preparing the same for use in tonsillitis, sore throat and
pharyngitis.
BACKGROUND
Tonsillitis is one of the common ailment of growing children. It is the
inflammation of the tonsils caused by streptococcal bacteria. The common
condition encountered is that of acute follicular tonsitillitis characterised by
pyrexia associated with sore throat. The cervical lymph nodes are enlarged
and tender. Pain occasionally radiates upto the ears. On examination, tonsils
are swollen, yellow spots due to pus excuding from tonsilar crypts. A certain
amount of hypertophy is common in early childhood. Frequent tonsillitis
leads to chronic tonsillitis.
In those cases where there is acute pain in tonsils with high fever and on
examination the throat is congested with tonsils enlarged, Belladonna will be
prescribed In case there is pain in the right tonsil, with difficulty in
swallowing then Lycopodium Clavatum will be prescribed. In case there is
pain in throat with fever, Belladonna with Mercurious lodatus Ruber is
prescribed.
The object of this invention is to simplify the prescription by doctor for a
large number group of patients and to cover wider spectrum of symptoms in a
single homoeopathic composition.
To achieve the said object, this invention provides tonsilat composition for a
wider spectrum of symptoms of throat which comprises:
Belladonna
Baryta Carbonica
Ferrum Phosphoricum
Kali Muriaticum
Mercurius lodatus Ruber
Lycopodmm Clavatimi
Phytolacca
in equal proportions having potencies ranging from 3 to 30 on decimal scale.
The Potentcies of Beliodonna, Ferrun Phospboricum, Kali Muriaticum and
Mercurius lodatus Ruber range from 3 to 12 on decimal scale and the potency
of Baryta Carbonica, Lycopodium Ciavatum and Phytolacca varies from 6 to
30 on decimal scale
Beliodonna, Lycopodium Ciavatum and Phytolacca are obtained from plant
extract and are potcntised in 90% alcohol or distilled water to the desired
potency and Ferrum Phosphoricum, Kali Muriaticum, Mercurius lodatus
Ruber, Baryta Carbonica are triturated in lactose for potentising to the desired
potency say 6 or below. The composition is compressed for tablets of 100
mg and 250 mg. in lactose.
This invention also includes a process of preparing Tonsilat composition
which comprises .
i obtaining the extracts of Belladonna, Lycopodium Ciavatum &
Phytolacca,
ii. potentising the said extracts in alcohol or distilled water to the predetermined
potency,
iii. Baryta Calbonica, Ferrum Phosphorieum, Kali Muriaticum,
Mercurius lodatus Ruber to potency above 6 by distilled water or
alcohol and to 6 and below 6 in lactose on decimal scale.
iv. mixing in equal proportions (ii), (iii) to form the composition.
The potenlising of Belladona, Lycopodium Clavatum, Phytolacca & Baryta
Carbonica above 6 on decimal scale is done in 90% of alcohol or distilled
water in 1:9 ratio
Belladonna, Ferrum Phosphoricum, Kali Muriaticum and Mercurius lodatus
Ruber are potentised in the range 3 to 12 on decimal scale and Baryta
Carbonica, Lycopodium Clavatum & Phytolacca are potentised in the range
from 6 to 30 on decimal scale.
The composition formed is compressed in the shape of tablets of 100 mg and
250 mg in any known manner.
The chemical names of Ferrum Pliosphoricum, Kali Muriaticum, Mercurius
lodatus Ruber and Baryta Carbonica are Ferrum phosphate, Potassium
chloride, Mercury iodide and Barium chloride respectively.
The invention will now be described with respect to the following examples
Example 1
Tonsilat composition is prepared by mixing in equal porportion the following
ingredients at ambient temperature .
Belladonna
Baryta carbomca
Ferrum Phosphoricum
Kali Muriaticum
Mercurius lodatus Ruber
Lycopodium Clavatum
Phytolacca
Belladonna, Lycopodium Clavatuin and Phytolacca are potentised
individually either in 90% Ethyl Alcohol or distilled water to get the desired
potency 3, 6 & 6 on decimal scale respectively and the remaining ingredients
are individually potentised in lactose in the ratio 1:9. The tablets of 100 mg
and 250 ing. are prepared in any known manner. These tablets are known as
Tonsilat and are prescribed for patients depending upon the age and acuteness
of the disease, namely, tonsillitis, sore throat, recurrent pains in tliorat and
pharyngitis. Even the patients having any of the aforesaid symptoms without
doctors prescript ion can take it himself without any adverse reaction. The
doses normally prescribed are 2 tablets of 250 mg. 4 times a day for adults in
acute conditions and 1 tablet 4 times a day for the children. This dose may
vary according to the condition of the patient.
Example 2
The Tonsilat composition is prepared by mixing in equal proportion the
following ingredients at ambient temperature. The aforesaid ingredients are
individually potentised according to the desired potency as described in
example 1. Tablets and doses are also prepared and prescribed in the same
manner as described in example 1.
Belladonna 6
Baryta carbonica 12
Ferrum Phosphoricum 6
Kali Munaticum 6
Mercurius lodatus Ruber 6
Lycopoduun Clavatum 12
Phytolacca 12
Example 3
The Tonsilat composition is prepared by mixing in equal proportion the
following ingredients at ambient temperature. The aforesaid ingredients are
individually potentised according to the desired potency as described in
example 1. Tablets and doses are also prepared and prescribed in the same
manner as described in example 1
Belladonna 12
Baryta car bonica 30
Ferrum Phosphoricum 12
Kali Muriaticum 12
Mercuricus lodatus Ruber 12
Lycopodium Clavatum 30
Phytolacca 30
Example 4
The process for preparing the Tonsilat composition consists in obtaining the
extracts of Bellodonna, Lycopodiiun Clavatum and Phytolacca, potentising
the said extracts individually in 90% alocohol or distilled water to the desired
potency say 6, 12 & 12 on decimal scale respectively. Triturating Ferrum
Phosphoricuni, Kali Muriaticum and Mercurius lodatus Ruber individually
in lactose to the desired potency say 6 on decimal scale.
Potentising Baryta Carbonica in distilled water or 90% alcohol to say 12 on
decimal scale. Mixing the desired potency of Bellodonna, Baryta Carbonica,
Ferrum Phosphoricum, Kali Muriaticum, Mercurius lodatus Ruber,
Lycopodicum Clavatum,. Phytolacca in equal proportion to fonn the
composition described in example 1, 2, & 3.
USES
The tablets prepared from above composition are useful for tonsillitis, sore
tliorat, recurrent pains in throat and pharyngitis.
