As per the Nice Classification updates 2026, the following clarifications are particularly relevant to Class 7:
Electric vehicle drivetrain components, industrial automation systems, and AI-assisted manufacturing robots are now more clearly classified in Class 7. Earlier, some of these were filed under Class 9 or Class 12 depending on perceived function. This clarification supports the growing electric vehicle and smart manufacturing sectors.
Practical takeaway: Products that are machine parts or production equipment should be described by their mechanical function to avoid being pushed into Class 9 or Class 12.
