Digitize India Platform (DIP)

Digitize India platform (DIP) is an initiative by the government of India for increasing digital connectivity and make the governance of various government platform more transparent.

The digitization initiative by the central government was launched in the year 2015 and was a push in the direction of using technology and empowering people to have a way to connect with the governmental agencies.

The government through this initiative has introduced broadband services in all the rural areas and to provide universal access to mobile connectivity and also the government is paving way for Jobs in the IT and many other areas.

Purpose of Launching Digitize India Platform

The initiative of the government of India under the digital India programme is to provide digitisation services. The services include providing scanned or digital copies of the documents to the government departments.

the main aim of the digitisation process is to make all the existing content usable in every different format or media and language. The process will make it possible to extract and manage documents and apply various IT application on these records.

Process Involved in Digitize India Platform

The applicant normally provides the document to the officials which then convert them into an image format or a scanned document. The documents that are normally converted into are relevant for all.

Following steps are taken in the digitisation process:

Step-1 Document Submission

The applicant provides the snippets of the documents to DIP as a contributor and the said contribution is then matched with all the existing snippets submitted before.

Step-2  Accessing Documents

The documents submitted by the contributors are accessed and their accuracy is checked based on the entries made. DIP is known to involve multi-level verification and validation data process; that will include image validation technique so that no similar documents are present in the same batch of documents

Note: The contributor is granted reward points for every correct word that is transferred in a digital format.

Step-3 Accumulating Snippets

All the snippet texts are put together on the digital platform and once a relevant document is ready the documents are sent back to all the relevant organisations.

Participants in Digital India Platform

  • User Organisation

Any user organisation such as government department, public sector organisation and all the autonomous bodies can become contributors and can also utilize the digitalisation services platform to access these scanned images for use.

  • Platform Operators (Common Service Centre SPV)

Platform operators are an organisation that helps bring user organisation onboard by processing their documents and by creating templates of the digitized documents. Platform contributors remunerate the digital contributors for their contribution.

  • Digital Contributors

Any  Indian citizen can become a digital contributor, simply by providing the Aadhar number to the authorities. They are required to provide simple data entry tasks on DIP. On every correct contribution, the contributor is rewarded points which he can later redeem in monetary value or donate it to the Digital India Initiative
