Abstract: A method for producing a salicylic acid ester represented by general formula (2), characterized in that salicylic acid and an alcohol represented by general formula (1) are brought into contact with a solid acid catalyst at a reaction temperature of 50-200°C. Formula (1): X-R-OH (In formula (1), R represents a C1-6 linear or branched alkyl group. X represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group.) (In formula (2), R and X are each as defined in formula (1).)
