Purification Of Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Serotype 3

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for purification of Streptococcus pneumoniae Type 3 capsular polysaccharide from fermentation broth comprising protein and complex impurities. The method provides for purification of capsular polysaccharide of Streptococcus pneumonia serotype 3 at a lower temperature range of 40-49oC. Further, the method yields highly purified form of Streptococcus pneumonia serotype 3 capsular polysaccharide which was not possible using existing purification processes.
