Classification principle: If the product is a vehicle, a vehicle component, or an accessory structurally integrated with a vehicle, it generally falls within Class 12.
As per the Nice Classification updates 2026, the following clarifications are particularly relevant to Class 12:
Electric vehicle batteries, autonomous driving hardware designed for vehicles, and drone delivery vehicles are now more clearly classified in Class 12. Earlier, some EV components were filed in Class 7 or Class 9.
Practical takeaway: When filing for EV or autonomous vehicle components, describe their integration with the vehicle to support Class 12 classification.
