Monitoring Shoplifting Activity In Megastores Through Ai Based Surveillance System And Method

Abstract

The present invention an AI (Artificial Intelligence) based surveillance system and a method of monitoring shoplifting activity in megastores. The system includes a camera (101), a posture generation module, a skeleton pre-processing module, a feature evaluation module, a feature reduction module, an activity classification module, a monitoring module (102) and an alert generating module (103). Through the present system, the surveillance by using a camera-based system with a height mounted camera (101) placed at a particular distance to capture the real-time video stream. The same video stream is then processed in real-time by a video processing subsystem to identify whether any person is involved in shoplifting act or not. Further, it generates a warning message on the monitoring screen and an alert when shoplifting occurs as a consequent outcome of the system.
