ESIC Portal: Services, Login Process for Employee and Employers

The Employees' State Insurance Act (ESI Act) was introduced by the Parliament in 1948 to establish legislation regarding social security for workers in the country. This Act encircles certain health-related situations such as sickness/ maternity/ temporary or permanent disablement/ death due to employment injury. And the Act aims at upholding human dignity during the period of crisis by protecting from deprivation and social degradation.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India established Employees State Insurance Corporation (“ESIC”) under the ESI Act 1948. It is a statutory body responsible for governing the payment of compensation, the contribution of employers, fulfillment of compliances, etc. This article is written to provide insight in regards to ESIC Portal.

ESIC Employee Portal Login:

The ESIC IP portal [ESIC Insured Person Portal] is designed for employees. The process to log in to this portal is as follows: 

  • Visit the webpage of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) i.e.
  • Go to the 'Services' option. Then click on the 'Employees' option
  • It will be directed to ‘IP Portal’. A note will appear; the user must click 'OK' to proceed further.
  • Then the log-in page will appear.
  • User must log in with the user name (i.e., user’s ESIC Insurance Number/IP Number)
  • Enter the captcha and proceed by clicking the 'Login' button. 
  • Once login is done, the user can access the web page's services.

ESIC Employers Portal Login

The employers can register under the ESI Act through online means, and it does not require any physical application before the registration or after it. Before login, the employer must sign up on the ESIC member portal. The steps are enumerated below:

For Signup at ESIC Portal:

  • Go to the ESIC portal.

  • ESIC homepage will appear; the employer must click on the "Employer Login" option.
  • Select the "Sign Up" option available on the right side of the page.
  • Fill out the online form (Company Name, Principal Employer, State, Regions, E-mail, Phone Number).
  • Tick the checkbox to confirm that the factory/establishment is under Exclusive Labour Contractor/Manpower Supplier, Contractors Supplying Labour. If not, registration has to be done through the Common Registration Link for ESIC/EPFO.
  • After ticking the checkbox, click “Submit”.
  • Users will receive an email having the login cardinals.

For Login at ESIC Portal

  • Visit the ESIC portal. ( 
  • Select ‘Employers login' to redirect the user to the login page.
  • The employer can now log in using the cardinals received in the mail.

ESIC benefits both employers and employees. Wherein the employers are unchained from the responsibilities of physical distress of workers that can be in the form of injury/ physical disablement etc. Also, the amount contributed under the ESI is deductible under the Income Tax Act while computing income. On the other hand, employees can be comforted in the form of dependents benefit, disability benefit (temporary or permanent), maternity benefit, sickness benefit, medical benefits, etc.
